i'd offer a guy at a body shop some money to buff them out in his spare time. if they can't buff out, then it's gonna cost you a lot more and you may just want to file a claim.
everyone always says 'lawsuit', but honestly it is very hard to win one unless you have clear proof. just saying the garbage man probably did it won't fly. plus, lawsuits take time and money.
x2 to this, and I'd also just like to add the small detail that lawyer fees for said law suit would most likely far exceed anything you'd pay to get this fixed (although I'd have to see pics to be sure of that). Not to mention, I value my time more highly than just about anything, and it seems to me it'd be a waste spending it on something that is a toss-up as far as getting a desireable result goes.
