    Re: oil question

How long have you owned your car? I would put the same kind that is in it. I'm thinking you have a shop change it so maybe the sticker showing the next time you need it changed shows the kind of oil they used? most use synthetic - mobile 1

To me the bigger question is why the light came on if the oil is only a little low. If its still above the 1 quart add mark, then it might be the sensor. This is located on the bottom of the oil pan.

    Re: oil question

i wouldn't use a zero weight in a turbocharged car unless your operating in a very cold climate. select the appropriate oil for the conditions your operating the vehicle in.

top up with the same as what is in there already, or 5W-30 if its all thats available, but definatley use a synthetic, at 120 degrees Celsius oil has one tenth its original lubricating properties, the oil in the S4 can get close to those temperatures under normal summer driving, and can go above that under extreme circumstances. with dinosaur oil in there you face the very real possibility of engine damage or failure.

    Re: oil question

I'd say for now get something 5W40/synthetic in there to fill it to the correct level absolutely ASAP.

Then, do an oil change...I recommend true synthetic Motul 5W40.

royal purple is the biggest BS oil on the market i think. i used it once, never will again... ive used Castrol German Syntec, loved it, tried the RP 5.30 and had condensation in my oil for the first time ever, my oil cap was white one day! They charge more than ELF, and ELF is way better.... go to the link I posted next time you need your oil done get it from them, rapidparts.com, FYI, if you get Total or ELF same thing. .
