thinking of trying something with the bumper, thoughts?

so my buddies gf back into the car, left some scuff marks, no biggie. car is going back to the shop to get the a4 blades, tow cap + washer caps + bumper painted.

as is, the car looks like this:


since cutting is not an option, while it's in the shop, I was thinking of painting the support bars like so:


i have also thought about spraying the roof black while I was at it... sitll not sure :)

i feel like with the angle of that support, the paint might look weird

it would look like bumpers on the f430 or f360 ( i forget which one), that are partially painted on the inner openings of the front bumper... however, i would first try it with vinyl or wide electrical tape just to see what it would look like. (a lot easier to remove tape than repaint)

since youre going to start slapping paint eveywhere may suggest, respraying rear valence? matte black or a satin black finish... i think it would look really good. i have those same plans for my, however im holding off body mods until after winter... (Northeast isnt friendly to our cars)

i thought about it but i'd hate for it to chip. the rear valence as is is pretty durable...i hve thought about a CF rear valence thouhg :)

I wouldn't. Like the others stated, the paint lines on the front bumper would just be odd. from far away it might look good but up close it would just look weird IMO. Keep the car 'as-is'. It looks beautiful the way you have already set it up.

I veto everything. Car looks sick as is. The paint line wont be pulled off as well as the F430 does. And since you wont say the black paint in the bumper looks bad, I'll just be the one to go ahead and say, the black paint in the bumper looks bad. Makes it similar to the new grilles of the B7. Keep it B6. Keep it classy.

I dig that look for sure. I had my MKIV GTI front painted the same way and really made the car look different. But I'm partially on whartung side as well.

On the side not, have you thought about covering the led's in the inner corners?
Or is there any room to cover them. I think it would look a lot better.

No way, leave your bumper as is. I love the b6 bumper vs. the single grill on the B7. I did however black out the lower portion on my upper grill and the upper portion on the lower. It's subtle, but effectively creates some unity between the two grills. With your blackout grill, you can't do this but IMO you don't need to. Your bumper may not be absolutely perfect, but I'd just leave it as is. You've done some great work.

X2, or blackout the tip of the LEDs to the corner of the existing cut out. I think it would look lamboish. PS & see how it would look. You could always do some high quality Matte Black Vinyl to see if you like the look. That way its easily reversed if you don't.

easiest and cheapest way to see if you like it in person, would be to buy very wide matte black electrical tape. measure and cut, then take a few photos. if its go then have it painted. if not you only spent a few dollars on tape and few hours to find out.
