    Removing master windows switch

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey,

My master window switch had the child lock button broken, so people in the back couldn't roll down their windows. I pressed on it really hard yesturday and the whole swtich kind of "fell". How do I get to push it back up? Do I have to remove the whole door card or can I just remove the plastic thats kinda the whole door handle? I looked up for DIYs but couldn't find anything.

    Thanks!

    Re: Removing master windows switch

You probably have to take off the door panel and then see if any of the tabs that hold it up aren't broken off or something. The child lock in mine went out too, fortunately it was replaced underwarranty. They said something about it being a short in the switch or something.

    Re: Removing master windows switch

You need to take off the whole door card.. mine was replaced under warranty as well.. it is around $150 bucks for the part and you get all new switches.

You must remove the whole panel.

I just find it funny that you were able to just accidently push the whole switch out....I spent maybe 2 hours once trying to get that damn switch out of its place with no luck!

Ohh man this blows. I don't want to remove the whole door card because I know that once put back, it'll start rattling from everywhere.

    Re: Removing master windows switch

If you plan on DIY on the switches, I recommend picking up a few of the quick clips that hold the card tight around the edges. You will more than likely break one or two when removing or reinstalling. They are like $2 bucks at the dealer.

    Re: Removing master windows switch

i had the same problem. its not hard to remove door panel, do that, unscrew switch panel and look what is the problem. My wasnt staying down, when i took it i noticed that little spring hook wouldnt stay in the same place, so i just cut a little slit in it so it would catch it if you are gonna fix it yourself TAKE A LOT OF PICTURES and if you cant figure out post pics and im pretty sure somebody will come up with idea how to fix it. I know right, that thing is in there fairly tight. You have to do a good amount of prying to get it to pop out. I don't know how people manage to push them out from the top. Unless ya'll are droppin' 'bows on 'em........................
