    headlight ignigter install

    so I just got my new igniter and was wondering if anyone has DIY write ups or links, or if its much simpler than I'm anticipating tell me some general pointers to make sure the install goes smooth. the last thing I need is to do it break that expensive part lol.

    do you mean the ballast? the headlights are easy to take out. Its 3 bolts. th two are on top very easy to see and the last is in a hole in the fender for the back side. Take a long extension and unscrew it. I think its a torx bolt, but dont remember for sure. What I did was loosened it then took a magnet pen and pulled it up out of the hole.


    Then you can slide the headlight right out. Piece of cake. That is if you need to work on the ballast?

    ballast/igniter same thing lol i called it a ballast at audi they said it was an igniter, thats what i thought i had to do. thanks

    Yeah I hear you there. At least that is what you were talking about.

    One more very important thing. To get the ballast out of the headlight, you will need tamper proof torx for the screws.



    They are regular torx srews but need a hole in middle of socket to fit in the opening of the screw.

    I had to borrow the bit from a friend who was a mechanic, I dont remember what size they were. dont even try to macgyver it to loosen the screw, it wont work :) I speak from experience.

    Yeah I got a set of 'security torx bits' from ebay to remove my ballast.

    Removal of the housings are easy, just be careful not to drop any screws into the black hole that is the engine bay
