i bought a set of falken tires when i put my wheels on maybe 3 months ago.....put air in my back tire this weekend bc it looked a little low....now all of a sudden the entire wheel has the most annoying vibration cruising....aggravated i went to the shop i bought them from and you could see it bubbled a little on the inside wear and they told me it was splitting from the inside?? idk i checked the pressure before and after and never maxed above 50psi like it says.....so now i buying a new one but my question really is do i buy 2 bc of quattro and wear issues etc.?

    Re: Bad Falken Tire...?

You realize how many different models and sizes of tires Falken makes?

    Could you be more specific? Falken...FK 452? St-115? Fk-912?

    What size?

What rim width are they mounted on?

    How many miles on them?

You should never inflate a street drive tire to its "max" pressure! The pressure will get higher as the tire gets hotter from normal driving! Always check tire pressure "cold".

Most tire problems are a result of running over something, and the problem manifesting itself later on down the road, usually days or months after the fact...

they are fk452's...225/35/19....maybe 5000 miles on them......they were barely warm.....really i am more concerned with whether i should buy 2 to compensate wear with the quattro or will it be ok with one?

haha holy shit youre one of those customers! just because a tire says "max 50psi" doesnt mean you want 50psi in your tire. our cars i believe are 32-34psi. bubbles are basically a seperation of the metal belts in the tire, which in no way is safe. they occur from hitting potholes and curbs. very rarely is it a manufatures defect. especially after 3 months at improper PSI. i would replace that tire ASAP. you can buy two if you want but 5k miles isnt much so i wouldnt think it would hurt anything. i doubt youve even worn 1/32nd off in 5k miles so tread should be practically the same.

    just a funny story:

one day we had a customer come in with his brand new 2007 civic with just under 10k on it. he was all flustered and pissed off because he had just had a blowout on the highway. we went ahead and replaced the tire for him and i went ahead and checked the rest of the tire pressures. well, lets just say i found the reason for his blowout. 130PSI in each of the other 3 tires!!! lol wtf....thats 100psi over what factory recommendations are. some people....

i didnt read it, but i heard my boss watching a video about EXPIRED tires. Some stores sell tires that were made 5-6 years ago and that would make tires unsafe, i think some commity did inspection and found lots of those tires are still selling. Maybe you got one of those extremely old tires. . .

I don't think that is the case here, I don't think FK452's have been on the market for that long yet.

Hey SmokdOut, you got the bubble from too much tire pressure, keep it around 35psi. Same thing happened to me on my all seasons last year, too much pressure, hit a pothole and got a bubble.

Could have been a factory defective tire, that does happen you know.

    How you gonna prove it?

Send it to the factory and have it examined?

Most tire retailers are not "qualified" to examine a tire and determine its failure.

I ran in to a simular problem with a set of Michilens once...

The tire basically split in half!

The place I bought'm from could only offer a replacement, but at pro-rated price.

    Yes, I bough the warrenty...

I could of sent the tire to the Michilen lab, at my expense, and pay for the exam...

If it turned out it was a manufac defect, they would still only replace with a pro-rate...

The easiest, simplist. quickest, less-costly answer was to simply get another tire that day, and be back on the road in an hour.

    Re: Bad Falken Tire...?

Shouldn't have to prove it. That is a shit warranty. If you bought your tires from Big O and got their road hazard warranty. They would replaced the tire for FREE. None of this pro rate BS. Any tire shop worth a shit would replace that tire at no charge if you opted for the warranty.

They're probably not balancing them right, I have Falken Ziex tires on my CX-7 and they must be balanced without any weights, Big O Tire does it best.
