Ok... I really need some advice here... My car has been at the Mechanic for over 2 weeks. I bought a new VAST STG 3 clutch cause my car would not go into gear.. Everyone told me the clutch was shot. Current clutch in the Car is an RS4 clutch with Vast Flywheel. has about 20k on it.

My Mechanic has been really backed up so the car has been sitting.. So today he finally is going to begin work on it.. He puts the car in Gear, Starts it up, Starts to pull it up on the lift and POP!!! loud pop noise from around the lower end by the firewall. Car is now driving fine..

What should I do? Do I still replace the clutch? Do I drive the car until this goes again? I am really could use some insight Thanks...

Does the clutch grab if you start the car in gear? if it does, then it's probably not the clutch.

The same exact thing happened to me - it was my throw out bearing.

Did you double check all your shifter linkage to make sure it's in order? pop out the housing around the shifter, remove the two 10mm bolts and check the 6mm hex bolts.

Background. I was driving the car and then felt vibration in the pedal. Then the car was hard to go into gear... Then in the next instant car would not go into gear at all. I turned the car off i was able to put it into gear and start it and drive it to a safe place.

So the mechanic called me today with this new news....

I don't think it's the clutch, if it was shot it would slip.

Try this, when you start it in 1st gear with the clutch pressed in, does the car lurch forward at all?

I would still replace the clutch with the PP, TO bearing, etc.
