    Stuck in New Mexico

I was about an hour east of Albuquerque late last night when my car died. I was doing about 80 when the car sputtered twice and died. I can get it to turn over, but it dies again after a second or so. I had it towed and it's now sitting at the dealership waiting to be fixed. The consensus between myself, the tow truck driver, and the service department is it's probably the fuel pump. My two questions are:

    1. Is there anything else it could be?
    2. How much is this going to cost me?

If it is the fuel pump and you're a 2003 model, it may be covered under the recall/TSB that Audi has. Might want to check that with them.

sounds like the fuel pump. Was there any noise coming from the rear passenger side prior to the incident? check with the dealer about the recall, hopefully its covered, if not its gonna cost $500-700
    sorry buddy

this just happened to me. same symptoms. depending how much time you have, genuineaudiparts.com has fuel pumps for $190. dealer charges $300. i didnt have time to wait, so i had to get it from the dealer. Exklusiv motorsports in phoenix charged me $80 for 1 hour of labor. so it cost me $380.

You may or may not be covered by the recall. Mine wasnt covered by the recall but then again it wasnt my fuel pump that caused the issue it was my chip that came out of the socket.

    Re: Stuck in New Mexico

    UPDATE:

It turned out to be the fuel pump. They didn't mention the recall, but I'll check and see if I fall under it just in case. Replacement was about $600, and then there was the $300 to. AAA only covered the first 3 miles and I was 75 miles from the dealer. I figured that since I was there, I'd have them program the rolling lock for the doors. Having everything unlock when you pull out the key is a nice bonus.
