GTRS Elim (or equivilent) supporting mod list

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Considering going this route early next year (or if I blow up my K03 sooner ) I knew the 1+ setup wouldnt last long
From what I understand, this is a decent setup for a tiptronic car. Chime in!
Basically, I want a daily driver that I can drive to work, vacation, and occasionaly the stop light grand prix with no reliablity issues.
I run my kids around once in a while as well with my A4, so I cant be waiting for a flatbed with a 1 and 4 year old.
    That would be bad.
I want consistent 13.x 1/4 mile times (not that I'll be racing it at all), but dont want to be embarrased by a Mustang if the occasion arises.

    My current car:
    04 1.8T Quattro tip 50,600 miles
    Moro blue (80 hp )
    GIAC X program
    Genesis 386cc
    Forge SPLT-R DV/BOV
2.5 exhaust (cat back) with Magnaflow 14851 mufflers
    ATP race springs

I would think the biggies I'll need (excluding the turbo) would be a FMIC, new software, injectors, HFC, boost gauge, snub mount, big inlet pipe, ???
    What else?
    Let me know.
    Thanks!

Thanks and I read Clint's writeup a bunch of times, but this...
    17. Turbo – So now you have your FMIC, clutch, injectors, and your ready for the new turbo and software to go with it. NICE! You have 2 choices. A K04 is the first one. It is an Audi OEM turbo that has different internals to allow for more hp. It makes less then BT but spools quicker and has lots of low end torque. Many people like it who want something fun as a daily driver but there are many who require more. Your 3 basic BT (big turbo) setups are the GTRS/GT71R, the APR Stage 3+, and the GIAC GT28R kit. The GIAC kit is very smooth and nicely tuned but since they are not running the GT28R, so many choose to not go with this kit. The APR and REVO (GTRS) are both capable of major hp. The APR is the better kit in every way but the $5200 price tag is too much for many. The tuning is flawless and once on the car, it never has to be tweaked. The REVO kit is the one that has made the most hp so far but with modifying timing and boost. If you are knowledgeable about mechanics and want to mess with your engine to make the most hp, get the GTRS. Many also get the GTRS and just change the boost, which is safer.
...doesnt really help me out too much when I'm bulding a parts lists and budget for the job.

I at least figured this thread would be a little more interesting/fun to people than another "Do these 12000k hids look good?"

You can do a test pipe with an antifouler attachment on the secondary O2 sensor or a high flow cat. but not all eliminate the cel from what I gather.

I dont need every single HP out of this setup. I wonder if a HFC would be a better choice? I dont want any CEL and would rather trade a few HP's for no CEL.

Then High flow cat is probably what you would want... not sure which would be the best bang for the buck and eliminate the cel... I believe 034 just came out with a new one for $300 and claims no cel.

I'm running a tttuning high flow cat on mine, works fine and didn't have any problems with emissions when i had it inspected here in New Hampshire.

Depending on the HFC, many of them will still trigger a CEL and will not pass emissions. Not worthwhile the chance, especially for the price difference between a HFC and TP

ive got a ofe ss stage 4 southbend clutch going in tomorrow for my gtrs/gt28rs winter project. youll need and FMIC, DV, TIP, software, injectors, turbo back exhaust, and of course the turbo kit. upgraded suspension, brakes, and sway bars would also be a good choice.

edit: just saw youve got an auto. disgard the clutch then.

It's just fine, but the original poster has a tiptronic transmission, not a manual so he doesn't need a clutch. Tranny upgrade work would be a good idea. I hear level10 really blows, there are some people on the board that have referred me to some shops that i guess do some very nice tiptronic upgrades if he decides to go that route.

As much as i woudl love a manual, i owe WAY to much on my loan to get rid of the car in the next few years so i'm going to make due with what i have and pimp out my tiptronic the best i can.

lookaught, how much HP does that trailer hitch add? of is it just straight TQ? :)

It adds 2000 lb/tc. pounds of towing capacity. Works fantastic to haul two people, a full car of track gear and two track bikes. My car does everything I need it to do and still can pull 30mpg, and over 25mpg with the trailer loaded up.

admittedly, the car is pretty weak going up hills when fully loaded. Thats why Im going to get a BT setup this winter. Gotta do my clutch first though, its on its way out... thats why I asked about the stage 3 vs stage 4. I'll probably end up with the stage 4, as who knows what'll happen once I can actually tune the car a bit.

Yes but it depends on which stage 3 you get. Both Eurocode and I offer an upgraded SB kits that have higher clamping pressure then their standard kit. This will work on a GTRS that is being used on a daily driver and on a pump gas tune.

BTW the stage 3 can be ordered with 2 different disks depending on if your using a stock DM flywheel or a LWFW. For the stock flywheel you get a ridged iron disk and for a lwfw you get a OFE sprung disk.
