Coilovers Squeak WTF?!

Ever since I had my stasis c/o installed, the rear springs squeak like mad! I went and applied some lubricant that came w. the kit on the rear spring and perch and the noise went away (for about a week).

My ? is:

1. Has anyone else had this annoying problem?
2. How can I fix it for good?

I read something about this... I think the solution was to have full load on the springs before you tighten the bolts.

mine squeak like crazy too, not ss but vogtlands. it's primarily coming from the front passenget side. i'm taking it into the shop on friday to investigate.

there are other threads on here discussing this topic, some have mentioned over torqued bushings...

Normal would mean that the design permits it to squeak.... I'm pretty sure it's not entirely bad... but definitely not normal

its normal for the squeaking? I think that should not happen. esp if you pay over a grand for a set of c/o's.
is it something a lot of people are experiencing? I am interested in the stasis c/o set and would like to hear other people that have the set if they have any problems.

If you removed your sway bar(s) while installing the coilovers, check the sway bar bushings. Sometimes, when disturbed, sway bar bushings develop a squeak or squawk that sounds like it would be from the springs. If it's the sway bar bushings, you can try to R&R with some good silicone grease or replace the bushing altogether. If it's where your springs are mounted that is the cause of the squeak, best to check that all fittings are torqued properly.

The shop I get my work done says its very common on a wide variety of coil overs. Plus, the fact that many people who responded to this thread with squeaking goes to prove my point. It's normal.

mine squeak a little...but it's not very noticeable. When I go in for my 25k service I"ll have my Audi dealer, who is a STaSIS dealer, take a look just to make sure everything is A okay.

Not trying to argue with you... but clarifying that the people who have coilovers squeaking may tend to more likely post on this thread than someone who has coilovers that don't squeak. So you can't really take this a proof that it's normal. Just saying .

anyways i'm dying to get some C/O's... but i'm spending all my money on booze, bitches, and car payments... and I can't stop spending.

I actually took some speed bumps tonight and I didn't hear any squeaking at all. Its been a lot less noticeable since I've been raised a bit. Maybe you're too low?

Sitting at standard preset height (25.5"-26" all around)

iam going to silicone spray all the bushings and moving parts in the suspension right before setting the ride height... but iam going to attempt to go lower then the preset heights

Never had any issues with ALL of the STaSIS coilovers we've installed.

Do you have the white spring perch spacers under the springs?

It sounds like you had a shop install them? Has the shop looked at the issue?

Everytime I read something pretaining to Stasis coils... this pops into my head... you cannot install these with an impact gun.. from what I gather these are one of the few if only coilovers that shouldn't be installed with one... and it seems 75% do or try to.

Stasis should write that in huge red letters on the box... as most people assume they are just like every other suspension setup and use an impact gun. correct me if im wrong...

There is a specific installation method yes....really same way with other coilovers (load the susp and tighten the fasteners).
