Update to my LED plate and city light bulbs w/out resistor *pix*

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I had no issues installing my LED plate lights w/out the resistor. All is still fine, no warn light, no flickering, and running cool to the touch. So I decided to buy some 194 replacement city bulbs. Got them today and they work flawless!! No warn light, no flickering, etc same as the plate bulbs. Couldn't be happier. Also installed PIAA Xtreme White low beams. They aren't an HID but best I can do with halogen buckets. Forgot to take a pic of fogs and city on only sorry. Now if I could VAG the ambers off I'd be happy. Here are the pix!

This last pic is what they look like after you turn off the lights and lock the doors. They glow for a min or so then go out.

I had to remove my bumper which is always a PITA. But yea either way I'm so going to change out my city lights after I get my "xenon package" from mod bargain.

5 min install. Drivers side simple, one cover from back of bucket, reach hand in and pull out old. Watch the hot radiator hose . Pass side, the airbox intake has to come off then you do the same as above.

LED's run super cool to the touch. Consume less power and output less heat compared to the halogen's that are in there. If anything, I hope the halogens don't fry the LED's over time.

Yup non-sline. Don't have to take the bumper off, but the under tray needs to be removed. Then its simple plug/play.

Well I have an '06 and I took my buttafuoco LED's and tried them w/o the circuit and I got a "parking light out" warning. I suppose its possible those multi-faced LED's consume enough power to not give the warning though.

I also tried 39mm 4-spot LED's in the license plate and got a bulb out warning.

Ordered the 9-spot LED's and hope for the same results as others (i.e. no warning).

So I'm still a little confused on taking these suckers out. Do these come out just like the h7 bulbs do? Or is there a chance they could fall back into the bucket if you're not careful? BTW where did you buy your 194 bulbs from?

Re: Update to my LED plate and city light bulbs w/out resistor *pix*

Argg click on the links provided to find out what bulb and where to buy. Bought them here http://autolumination.com

Again, pop the covers off the back of the headlight buckets, ones closest to the radiator. Reach in and pull/wiggle the city light socket out. The holder is like a long tube sort of yellowish plastic in color. Pull the old bulb out put in the new LED. They fit snug in the socket so falling out into the headlight bucket isn't a problem. To make it easier, I put the LED bulb in the socket and turned the lights on. It's a lot easier to find the hole when the bulb is lit up.

So an easy install. Also are those blue or could I buy super white? One last question, do you have xenon lights?

I just tried mine. I got a bulb out. if you get it in there just right it stays on but then once i closed my trunk it moved and said bulb out! errrrr. And now the stock ones don't want to work either. Do i have to clear the code for it to send power back to the lights?

I also have the tech pack. I have color dis, rain sensors, memory seats etc. No navi though. I ordered that load equalizer yesterday. should get to me by the end of the week and will be put in right away. Right now the bulbs blink twice then go out and i get the warning. I hope this solves the problem. I also ordered 2 different wedge bulbs for the inside to see which one works the best. I'll keep everyone updated!!

I just realized that I did not try both LED's when I tested for bulb out warning. I literally just now got done trying both and also got the flicker twice, then out (& warning). I'll be looking forward to hearing about your progress.

    What wedge bulbs? City Lights?

Edit: Oh I see you have Buttafuoco city LED's (as do I).

I'll keep you updated for sure. I really hope it works, i like the way it looks so far.

As for the wedge bulbs, i ordered 1 "194 Oval Leds Bulbs Emits A Wide Beam Of Forward Light" (from their site) which lights up the pedals and thats about it. and just ordered 1 "194 168 W5W 2825 Inverted Lenses" (from their site again) we will see how bright they are. These are for the interior lights/footwells.
