I'm at U Albany up here and brought my car in for an inspection among other things. I brought it to Logan Audi in Latham. The service rep I'm dealing with is a nice guy but I feel like I'm being absolutely ripped off. I'm at the point where I just don't care and told him to fix it. I have no tools with me and I'm basically stuck up here. I have to park the car on the street where there are tons of police and it's been out of inspection for a month.
So...in order for him to have it pass inspection he wants to replace:
Mirror glass - commonish problem where the edges get browned, I think it has to do with heated mirror. I think its retarded, I can still see through it.
Brake lines - the outter rubber is cracked even though the inside is intact. They don't care.
Rear wheel bearings - I had them checked by another dealer a year ago and they saw nothing. I don't feel wobbling or hear anything.
A few suspension arms - I had the car worked on a few months ago and the mechanic didn't mention anything besides the one arm he did replace.
What made me maddest was that I had both tie rods replaced for free by another Audi dealership for free as per a service bulletin. The guy up here said one of the ends has a broken seal or something. So I told him that Audi replaced them less than a year ago, he checks the computer and agrees but said he can't replace it. So I called the dealership that did the replacement and told him and he called the guy up here. He called me back after talking to the guy up here and said "if he was any kind of a man" he'd honor the warranty....but he wont. So I told him not to replace that part and I'd bring it back to the other place because he'll do it for free.
Plus I'm having him replace the coolant temp sensor and do an oil change.
I told him about my exhaust rattle and he called me today with a price of 495 for a new down pipe. I declined having this done and told him I want all the old parts. I'm pretty pissed but I guess I could have avoided this by having this done somewhere else but I just don't want to deal with it.
So.....3,000 dollars to bring a 10 year old A4 to inspection. I should have just crashed it into a river and gotten another one.
Anyone else been to this dealership?
