Ordering an R8 at MSRP?

My father is considering selling his 997 and getting into an R8. Does anyone know if an 09 can be ordered at MSRP? I figure with everyone having a massive boner for the GT-R some of the lust for the R8 may have died down by now...

not sure R8 buyers and GT-R buyers are necessarily the same people. A lot of R8 owners are BMW/Porsche/MB owners, and not necessarily moving up from a 350Z or vette, which is where I think many GT-R owners are

as for ordering at MSRP, you can if you find the right dealer and are willing to wait or take a car someone else ordered and backed out on for one sooner

there are a decent number on ebay from just over MSRP for a fairly heavily used one (3-5k miles+) to 20-30k over for ones with only a few hundred miles. if you want specific color/options sometimes you just need to be patient

we all know that dealers markup the new cars and take advantage of it but theres no reason to make a huge deal about it here.

my dads friend works at a ferrari dealer and he told us they were marking up the maserati grand turismo's 60k... and they still sold out

MSRP is the going rate for the R8. That's what I paid for mine along with two buddies. Some dealers are asking for more, but these are the cars that will be sitting on the lot for some time until they realize that anything over list is going to make it tough to move. If Audi wants to stabilize pricing with the R8 in the states, they should cut allocation. Just take a look at the glut of F430s on dealership and autobroker's floor now. There is just excess supply in this economy.

Hi guys, can I ask a quick question here. Is it common for dealers to ask for way over the MSRP in the states because in the UK a dealer would not be allowed to do this on a new car?

I have my order in for my V10 at the moment but they have yet to confirm the UK retail price. If they were selling a used car they could charge what they liked, but not on a new car.
