GT28RS Turbo Kit

im looking at doing the GT28RS Turbo Kit later down the road and was wondering about who has the software for it and is their and internal motor work that should be done before hand...i ask because i am looking to do a software upgrade within the next week and want to know who to go with so i can just pay for the upgrade

my friend is running 71r elim with revo and 550s. its not dialed in at all and the power is smooth, but you can buy an sps to change timing/boost/etc via obd port

you got a lot of work to do first:

clutch
exhaust
HFC/TP
FMIC
shifter
boost gauge
suspension
brakes

and you cant load software without having the turbo/injectors in place

REVO, ASP, and APR all offer gt28rs kits

im doing this kit as my winter project and running revo software. what ive read has told me i should be fine with it on stock internals. im going to run a somewhat conservative tune on it as well just to be extra safe. i dont want to blow up my engine.

i have the full 28rs kit and i love it. you have the ability to upgrade easier, its sounds great, spools great on the 1.8t but if you plan on running a rave file or anywhere in the 320awhp + range multiple times i would put rods in there for piece of mind. Im in the process of finishing off my meth kit and i think i am going to get a custom tune, i might just hold out for rods so i can really max this thing out.

320-330awhp for a dyno pull is fine for stock internals. I wouldnt go over 300awhp as a daily driver. With a 28RS, 280-300awhp is not going to be acheivable on pump gas anyways

i thought the gt28rs was larger than the gtrs? isnt greg (400hpa4) making 400chp with the gtrs? (does he have water/meth? or something boosting his numbers up?)

GTRS/71R Elim's make 320-330awhp on 100 + octane, 260-270awhp on straight 93. Both the Elim's and full setup 28RS's make almost identical power. The only size differences are the external housings, the wheels are almost identical

so now im confused and have to rethink this lol....if i were going to get the GT28RS elim kit, would i make more power with a GTRS elim kit instead? talking 93octane. or will it be pretty much identical? any idea which would spool faster?

Same power, spool is negligible as well

what if i added a new manifold into the equation? any difference? cause i mean, if not when i do the turbo...its going to be done eventually.

Im speaking of either Elim or full setup with a higher flowing exhaust manifold, whether ATP or whatever you choose. Subtract 20-30whp if using the stock mani with the GTRS or 71R
