My 2 new Avants!!

as most of you know i picked up an 05 Brilliant Red A4 USP Avant 1.8T 6spd over the summer.. about a month later, i also picked up an 04 Crystal Blue Metallic A6 Avant 3.0L.. i figured it was finally time i got around to posting a few pics..

How do you like the A6? I am actually dealing with a dealer right now and thinking about picking one up, finally. I have always wanted an A4 Avant but I have two kids so I could use the room, plus the prices seem to be better on the A6's. BTW both of your cars are hott!!!

actually i havent spent much time in the A6 yet.. i am in CA now, but moving to PA soon.. i found the A6 on the east coast and it is currently at my families until i get back.. they say it is gorgeous..

i did look at some other A6's and they are way bigger than the A4.. which is a good thing.. you can look up specs on audiworld.com, carsdirect.com and i am sure some other places.. the A6 is 13" longer and 6" wider.. and gives you 3" more rear leg room and 2.5" more rear shoulder room.. front leg room was the same and front shoulder room is +1"..

if your kids are still in car seats you definitely want an A6 over an A4 -- those seats are big.. we have to move the front seats up a little and it is still a tight fit..

if your kids are just out of car seats but not big teenagers and A4 might work, but the cargo room in the A6 is also way bigger than the A4..

best thing to do is find both at a dealer and compare.. avants are harder to find, so even just look at sedans.. the interior space is the same and it will be obvious which one will work better for you..

unfortunately the newest C5 A6 Avant is an '04 ('05 is get an Allroad), but you can find some good deals out there.. i got mine for $16k, but it had higher miles 77k.. we wont put many miles on it, so i hope keep it for a 2-3 yrs then get a C6 A6 Avant..

when shopping for them, watch out for pealing interior buttons.. we saw an '03 and buttons were completely trashed..

you can also ad an RNS-E dvd navigation that will really update the interior and give you new car features.. check navplus.us..

Thanks for the info man, both of my kids are in car seats. My son is 2 1/2 and my daughter is only 7 months, so it looks like the A6 is the way to go huh? I just can't wait to see what it is going to look like, I am going to get a white one and slam it on some matte black 19's, man I can't wait to finally pick one up!!!! Everyone at work is giving me sh*t for wanting a station wagon.......haters:)!!!!!

definitely go with an A6.. my son is 2 and his feet are on the back of my seat (with protectors) in my A4, its not his fault there isnt much room.. my 2nd one is due in Jan, but when we had the infant seat in, we had to move the front seat almost all the way forward and my wife's knees were almost hitting the dash..

dont listen to the idiots at work, Avants rock!!.. much better then most of the other options out there..

The car is an 03 A6 Avant with Bose, Xenon, heated seats ect. It has 75k on it and they want 11,900 for it, is that a good deal? The timing belt has not been changed yet, but I only put on about 7k miles per year so that could wait a little bit. What ya think should i pull the trigger?

i just officially put the sedan up for sale this wknd.. so yes it still for sale.. it is in CA and hopefully it will be sold before we move (we decided to move back to PA in Nov)..

yeah the Red USP is for me and the Blue A6 is for my wife..

very observant about the plates, but yes the A6 is in PA.. the USP is in CA and so is the sedan.. so currently i own 3 Audis and a 150cc chinese vespa-like scooter!!..

my A6 is an '04 with bose, xenons, premium package, cold weather package, and any other packages they offer = completely loaded.. it has 77k on it and i got it for $16, which i thought is a good deal..

i would say $12k is a great deal.. even if you dont put many miles on, definitely think about having the TB changed at some point.. you dont want that thing to break.. unless you plan to sell it soon, just do it and rest easy.. i should also say i am much more familiar with the 1.8T, the 3.0L might not be the same..

but if it has the options you wan, jump on it.. avants are not that easy to find..

Ha! I just joined the two avant club myself. One of my neighbors actually said "wow, you sure have a thing for Audi station wagons don't you." No disrespect to the A6, but I like the A4 a lot...red and black go so well together.

i didnt want black wheels originally, but a local guy had these.. they need refinished (black is chipping), but i liked the style / got a good deal / and can refinish them silver this winter..

many have said they like them black and it is growing on me, but for now i am still planning to refinish them either silver or a light anthracite / dark silver..

i almost bought the 19" anthracite real sportecs in classifieds, they are less than 30 miles from me, but i really wanted to stick with 18" for the crappy roads and cheaper tires.. also thought for the $1000+ i "saved" by getting the black ones i can get a chip (+injectors) and still have a little cash to go towards a boost gauge or suspension..

My son Donovan was 2 when I bought the 99 a4 Avant. Now he's 6 and his little brother is 3 and we still take this car on all our trips. I'm 6'3", my wife is 5'7", and we manage to fit just fine. An A6 would be a better fit but the B5 Avant is smaller than the B6 and we still fit.

wow, that's impressive.. 6'3", 5'7", 6yo, & 3yo in a B5 avant..

i am 5'10", my wife is 5'5" and our son is 2 and i think the B6 avant is little tight.. it is certainly doable.. i guess it depends on how much crap you bring with you and if care if kids are kicking the seats..

one thing to note, is we have Britax car seats and they are a bit bigger than other brands..

still the best thing to do is look at them in person..
