he got smoked by a SRT4. He pulled on the Dodge by 3 car lengths until 3rd gear and than it was game over.

Now he wants to swap for Moms S4 (good luck w/ that). What can I do to get the A4 for a little faster.

1st question is how did he pull even for 1 second on an SRT4 much less 3 car lengths until 3rd gear. Did he go from a stop and the SRT just blazed the tires?

And in order to beat one the A4 needs an ATP eliminator turbo (GTRS or 71r) which isnt gonna be cheap relatively speaking ($3000+).

I raced an SRT4 with a chip and exhaust with my car having the GTRS and we were side by side through 3rd gear (that is all we raced) and my car was trapping 102mph how I had it set up at the time. A car like your son's with APR 1+ and that other stuff will only trap in the 86-92mph range.

I had APR 1+ and neuspeed exhaust and ran it on the 100 octane map and ran a 15.3 @ 88mph 1/4 mile. With the GTRS turbo kit on pump gas settings I ran a 13.35-13.7 range @ 100mph, on race gas high 12s at 105-108mph. The SRT4 I raced ran a 101mph trap at the track but only a 14.0 time since he couldnt launch like I can.

Too bad we have the immobilizer on our ECU's. Changing setup (BT) and I will lose APR stage 1+ (fully loaded ECU 4 programs, erase code, TBA, security lock out, and anti- thieft) I would sell it for cheap w/TT225 injectors if their is a easy way to swap for both of us.

The best deals I got is right here in the classifieds, saved a lot of money thanks to AZ

Your best bet is to find a stock ECu that matches yours. Then you can have that flashed BT and then sell your 1+ ECu.

how much money does he have? The mods you listed are nice but your a couple steps away from a BT after all that. I vote starting with supporting mods toward a BT /maybe with some help from you dad.

SRT4s are fast anyway especially when they are modded, there will always be a car faster than him, but if you wanna get his numbers up there I think you can do a decent job before you even have to change the turbo for a bigger one. And if you get all this done, and he still wants more, he wont need anything to upgrade the turbo all he'll need is the turbo and software. Heres the list:

1)Exhaust
2)Downpipe
3)TP
4)Nuespeed TIP
5)Samco Boost hoses
6)Software Chip(W/ Bigger injectors) (Probably Revo Stage 2, so he wont have to switch software if he wants to upgrade the turbo, since they have better software for turbo upgrades, and he could just pay an upgrade fee. Thats if he still wants a K04 or something after all these mods)

7)FMIC
8)DV
9)Southbend Clutch
10)Short Shifter

Alot of racing and racing times depend on the driver as well, if he really wants the best time he has to drive that car hard. I know a guy who is a great driver, was showing his friend how to drive on the strip, got a stock si in the 14s after a bad launch just by amazing shifting, the owner was getting mid 16s. You also have to keep in mind this guy has broken many shifters from ripping them shifting so fast, but when he has the right equipment and does it right, it's the difference between SECONDS on the track with him and an unskilled driver. Thats why his clutch and short shifter will be important in this.

If he has all those mods above, I think he could be around 250hp w/o the turbo upgrade. That plus the southbend clutch will be great for good launching, and the short shifter will do him good. But he has to learn how to drive hard too, like in the example above, it can make a real good difference. Of course, I dont know how much money your son has/is willing to spend, but the list above would be ideal before dropping $1500+ more on a K04 upgrade.

Keep it up! And tell the son the S4 isnt worth it unless he can afford the gass, and that his A4 could smoke the S4 with the right set up!

sounds like my mom. she makes all these wincing noises every time the speed or direction of the car changes. no matter how close/far i am to anything or anyone, and no matter how gently/hard i make said changes.

imma make her ride in it when its all broken in and ready to go. lol. she's gonna get a 5k launch too hahahaha (she hasn't been in it since i first got it and only knows that i've rebuilt the engine... she says the rest is beyond her and she doesnt know what it does)

K04 is throwing away your money away, it's not going to make much of a difference except in the low end dept. you'll have a bit of TQ, but the HP just won't be there. you will never get anywhere near that SRT4 with that little turbo.

Also, get a Revo flash if you don't intend on going BT right away, don't go APR, you won't have any good upgrade options later on without throwing the software away and having to go with Revo. Revo stage 2 with EFIs and then you can get the stage 3 form them as an upgrade for cheap money.

u know for ur son no offense i just graduated high school as well, a chip and injectors is enough not to beat an SRT but enough for everything else. It has lots of torque i mean i can eat up my friends brand new Sentra SE-R and i'm tiptronic, i think that a chip is adequate for daily driving, and dude don't get him to start racing though u never know people out there are dangerous, but he'll like the chip and injectors, let me know i have both available.

BT elim setup would be what he is looking for. It cost a little more then a K04 setup and still looks 100% stock.
