    Question Air Bag light question.

On Saturday, in the few occassions that I have a passenger sit in the middle seat at the back, my airbag light lit up each time the center passenger would engage their seatbelt. When the seat belt is disengaged it would not turn on. Is this normal?

    It is not normal.

VAG the car to see what error is in the system. Might be a loose airbag connector or an ignitor might be faulty.

AFAIK when the airbag light is lit ALL of the airbags in the car are disabled.

Hey, thanks. Funny that it only lights up when there are 5 people in the car. No errors when I scanned the ECU.

In my old B5 my airbag light was on for a long time, never bothered fixing it since it was a known problem with airbag connections. Well, i totaled the car in a frontal collision the airbgas worked. If they didn't i wouldn't be here right now. so the airbags will still work the light is just telling you theres a problem.

My airbag light is on constantly and i had it VAG'd and they said it was a faulty connection under the driver seat which is the most typical spot. I was told by two separate audi certified techs that even when the airbag light is on constantly something like 98% of time they will still deploy in an accident. Was quoted something like 500 to fix it so i said fuck it.

I have a touchy connector by the rear passgerside seat. If someone sits there the light comes on, moves to the center and the light goes off and no codes are stored.

When I drove back from LA a couple of years ago and got the airbag light I spoke to multiple techs and a few dealerships along the way home and they all said the same thing.

airbag light on = no airbags

i've got the same issue with my Airbag light staying on. my shop (reputable) told me "i can just about guarantee that when the airbag light is on all airbags will certainly still go off in an accident". they said the sensor is passenger side, and that the front bumper must be taken off to get to it. the sensor is "G284"...anyone heard of this?

    Re: Air Bag light question.

Well I don't know how 3 totally different dealerships and 3 master Audi techs I know would all give me the incorrect answer.
