You need to call around. The thing is, they will not be cheap. With the uprise of the prices on the k04, it would ideally be better to just go with a GTRS if you are coming from a stock turbo set up. Just like the k04, you would not need to even upgrade exhaust manifold, but is always recommended. Just a better route in my opinion. Set up is exactly like the k04 and could be cheaper than a k04 set up if you search.

But if you are simply looking for a replacement, it is not worth dishing out ~$1000 for that turbo when you can have it rebuilt for less than $500. That is my opinion on the k04 situation.

But you could try MJM, PureMS, AWE, APR, etc. If you google "Borg Warner K04" you should yeild many resultys on places that sell them.

what is the cheapest gtrs set up you could do for say under 2k i dont have too much money but my k03 is on its last leg

Hey man, i did all that even tried gpop and my mechanic says dont do bigger than k04 due to my tip, some people say just go bigger it wont hurt but its my dd and i need the reliability

They are still completely sold out in the Country and no one knows when they will be back. And whoever gets them back first, it will be interesting to see what price they sell them for since so many people want one. $1000 minimum is the assumed amount that you will be able to pick one up for.

To the OP, many mechanics would say that because they conjecture the transmission can not handle the torque but that is a bunch of crap. There are 2 individuals I know of on this forum baord that have BTs in thier B5s (*Biketsai and AudiRacerS4). The ironic thing I read on threads is that it is actually the k04 which is not good for the tip transmission.

*you might want to PM them and see what route they would recomend as they both have tip
