NOW AVAILABLE! JHM DIY Timing Belt DVD and T-belt kits for 2.7T

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
After the success of our 01E trans rebuild DVD and Rebuild Kit we thought we would continue that success with a 2.7t and 2.8L V6 Timing Belt Kit DVD.

Here is a link to the feeler thread that started it all -> http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=214697

The DVD is free with one of our Timing Belt Kits, but can also be purchased separately if you just want the knowledge or to see if you think you can tackle the job.

VIEW THE VIDEO TRAILER OF THE DVD HERE http://jhmotorsports.com/videos/JHM_...VD_Trailer.wmv

ALTERNATE VIDEO LINK IN CASE DOWNLOAD IS SLOW http://jhmtuning.com/videos/JHM_2.7t...VD_Trailer.wmv

DVD is 51 minutes in length and that whole 51 minutes is spent just doing the timing belt, water pump and thermostat. With lots of tips and tricks along the way and showing you how to do it without the expensive alignment bar or crank lock tool.

Check both the DVD and the Timing Belt Kit with the DVD out here in our new store --> http://www.jhmotorsports.com/shop/ca..._66_68_192_193

Re: NOW AVAILABLE! JHM DIY Timing Belt DVD and T-belt kits for 2.7T

Here is a Question I was asked via email. So I thought I would share.

    Jason,
I was wondering if you use OEM parts in your timing belt kit? Also,
does your video show anything as far as replacement of the cam and crank
seals? Lastly, i know it says the video shows you how to replace it
without the camlock bar, but does it give any info on how to do it with
    the bar?

    Answer I responded with:

They are all high quality after market German made replacements. Been running them on my car for 30k plus miles with tons of 7300 rpm abuse. My car is the test mule for my shop and most its miles are at the track or for R&D and around town.

VAST Performance has been using the same brands for a long time as well. The belts are both made by Continental. Same as the tires company that makes tires that are OE on Mercedes. Big brand overseas.

I do show how you would change the cam and cranks seals. I don't do the seal replacement but I show you how the tools connect and how you would get it apart with much detail. Basically a steering wheel and 2-jaw puller are all that are needed. I spend several minutes just showing this.

I also point out where the cam lock bar goes and make it clear on how it is used.

I have done hundreds of timing belts in my life on at least 50 different motors across many brands. So the info I give comes from that experience.

(NOTE: correction in the DVD, it is a 24mm 12 point socket for the crank bolt NOT a 25mm 12 point, we will update DVD soon)

Other than that the feedback is awesome.

Thanks to all who have purchased thus far.

We just got an in house 01 A6 4.2l V8 for R&D this week. We are now dedicating a lot of our efforts with the 4.2l V8 in the A6 and newer S4 since they are similar. We already have tuning and tip chips for better shifting. We are working on the following: Long tube headers, cat back exhaust, plate nitrous system between the head and intake, big brake kit-lightweight rotors and anything else we make for the B6/B7 S4 that works on the A6 4.2l. Hence we got the in house car to try out all the parts we make on it.

Unfortunately the car we have already had a fresh t-belt before we got it, but if we find a reason to tear into it, we will investigate the difficulty of modifying a 2.7t tool or making one.

Thanks and Dan @ JHM will be heading the A6 4.2l program up so feel free to PM him for the latest developments.

    Thanks.

Basically anything we build for the B6/B7 S4 these days we are sticking it on Dan's car to confirm fitment. Most of the stuff is the same except that the B6/B7 S4 has a rear chain driven cam setup and the A6 has a front belt driven cam setup. We already know that our intake spacers fit. -> http://www.jhmotorsports.com/shop/ca...0c5c69776e85d0

If we have a need to pull Dan's front end of we will try out one of our 2.7t bars. In the meantime I will working on throwing a t-belt kit together for you guys. I show how in the 2.7t video how to do it without the cam lock bar. You are finw without it unless you do the cam seals.

Here are the contents of the kit (The 4.2l requires more parts than a 2.7t to do it right)

    - Timing Belt - Water Pump and Gasket - Thermostat and o-ring - Serpentine Belt - Hydraulic Tensioner - Tensioner Roller Assembly - Upper Idler Pulley -1 Lower Idler Pulley

Parts made by the following high quality companies- Water pump (Hepu or Meyle), Timing Belt and Serpentine Belt(Continental), tensioner(NTN), Rollers (INA), Thermostat(Behr).

Fitment is for all 4.2l V8s in the A6 from 1999 to 2004.

There is a vin split on one of the parts

    Thru 2/01 (VIN 4B.1.105 000) the price is $450 (Early) 99-01

    From 2/01 (VIN 4B.1.105 001) the price is $410 (Late) 01.5-04

    RS6 only the price is $410 03-04

Add $17 if you want to replace the cam and crank seals. (makes the job more difficult if you don't have a way to lock the cams and or crank)

We will include our DVD for the 2.7t since the techniques, advice and pointers would be helpful with any timing belt job.

We have the t-stat done in the 2.7t video so we wouldn't have it any other way. There is way too much labor involved to not do it once you are already there.

The concepts are all the same but I would say that 75% of the video would be useful since all Audi motors are relatively similar.
