    BOV or DV?? noob question....[:/]

    hey guys.....i bought my 1999 audi a4 a while ago, and i just now got to fixing it...so i fixed everything, and now got new 2.5" intercooloer pipes. the problem is that i have two valves on my old pipes. a DV and a BOV. can i keep both of them? or am i loosing power if i do? if i should get rid of one, which one to get rid of? im kinda stuck on this one..... i asked a friend, and he said i should keep the DV, but i really like the BOV...so can you guys help? please

    I don't care what everyone says, I'm gonna put my buddy's HKS SSQV he has laying around after I go to Uni to flash the car next week. See how it runs, if it's as shitty as everyone claims, I'll move to a recirculating valve, but I'd like to try it for myself first.

    Lol and tell everyone that says no bov to fuck off. Ive been chipped with a forge 004 bov for like 6 months now with nothing but good things to say. It needs to be a dual piston bov something that is closed at idle.

    I don't have a BOV, but I do have the sound. I have my APR R1 DV and I love it! Since I now have an open intake I have the BOV sound, but with out the CEL's that usually come with the BOV.

    You can buy my Hyperboost adjustable DV for $60 shipped if you want....I can clean it and service it for you before I ship it....It's in perfect condition....but unfortunately I need to buy a BOV for the tune that I'm running with my BT.....Shoot me a PM if you want pics

    I would think for some of the responses here, there are alot of noobs that are directing the OP to search. Perhaps you havent been informed properly yourselves ...

    While a DV is "optimal" for our cars, there are a handful of BOV's that will run perfectly fine with a MAF still in place. The two I would recommend are either a Forge 004 or HKS SSQ for stock turbo - BT apps. A Tial 50mm will also work but moves WAY too much air for a small amount of power. The ONLY time one of these BOV's will perform differently than a DV is obviously when it is opening at throttle lift. It WILL create a rich A/F condition but it is only for that split second that the valve is open which is less time than it takes you to think about whats going on. The rich condition will not hurt or hinder anything with your car including performance. The amount of air either lost from the BOV vent or returned to the TIP via a DV is nothing compared to the CFM's the motor is ingesting.

    Please remember this is specific to a few valves which were designed around MAF tuned cars. There are also quite a few BOV's which remain open at idle and for sure will not work. Also, the valves that are constantly opening (with an idle rev like someone mentioned above) I would steer clear of ...

    You can add a Baileys twin piston to that lot of BOV that work with the 1.8T

    I have run a Greddy type S BOV on many 1.8t's and never had a problem or a CEL. I would go more into detail, but you could find that I have written it like 6 times in other threads about the same thing.

    i like the noise. i hooked up a air compressor for air bags to a horn and put a valve switch under my clutch so when ever i put the clutch in, i hear a nice pssssssst.
    why didn't i buy a rs4 gill when they were $60
