Hey Jean, I would bet that the golf could take you. K04's spell stage 3 and they are freakin" fast. Hell I've got a 2.0 MKV stage 1 and it's freaking fast.

Yeah totally possible. Lighter car, KO4 and the right mods could pass you, more so if it was a 2.0t.

maybe on race gas he could hold evens with you but thats about it.
i have raced k04 golfs and k04 jettas and k04'd audis. the audis i could beat even 28RS or 2871 elims. the k04 golf could hold even with my k04' a4. my k04'd a4 was maxed out as far as engine supporting mods. and my s4 whooped my A4...badly in any area. high or low rpms. considering my B5 A4 was weighing in around 3221lbs. the S is at 3987lbs. my a4 couldn't come close and i have run plenty of k04'd jettas and golf in my day.

well the OP is saying K04 on uni tuning.

i ran a PC16 file that i had worked on tweaking for 2yrs to finally get it to idle just right...smooth over entire RPM band. and have max TQ @ 2100 RPMS. if i would have ran a test pipe i could have had that around 1700-1800 rpms. but the dp is a bitch to fool and when you have emissions...its just a PITA.

a golf on a k04 isn't really special. fronttrash won't work for a hole shot....and highway run....it will run out of breath....1.8L combined with a k04 which will start running out of breath at 5500rpms and give or take the tune...could drop severely....which the S4 shines as it goes up. now if he had a 2871R or GT28RS non ELIM....he could make mad power upto 400whp on a 2871.

I lived in Grenoble France for 3 years for work. I met my wife there and she is French. She was reading over my shoulder last night and said "oh wow, he's from Laval" - which is also the name of a city in France. At any rate, question has been answered.

that’s how I race modified evo's and sti’s that are faster in the 1/4 mile but got nothing from 80 mph...God bless V8's and God bless Germany...oh and America...

I have a hard time believing that the B6 S4 could out run the 28RS or 2871 B6 A4. Agains a K04 A4 yeah, but a 2.0T K04 which is much lighter and has a better fuel delivery system would give him a good run.

as i had said...that was my A4 vs a 71R ELIM. and i could on that car which came down to my tune was better than yours. and it was on a B5 A4. this is a 1.8T GOLF w/ k04....and an B6 S4 can beat one all day in my eyes unless you can't drive. even with an automatic S4 you should be able to walk away on a 1.8T k04'd Golf.

28RS or 71R B6 A4 are 99% eliminators which have the k03/k04 hotside. sure the guys have run mid 12s with race gas and put up good numbers on race gas. charlie, greg, david....but a typical RS elim would probably only be evens with a B6 S4 as they tyically run just mid to high 13s on pump gas. as the hotside is the limiting factor here....i could see a b6 s4 pull away on a b6 A4 RS ELIM on the highway. from the dig it could be very close.

a k04'd 2.0T motor stands better from the dig....or low roll....in the end though i don't see it winning. again since i have raced many a k04'd veedubs...i had one keep evens with me in my A4...my A4 was quick for what it was...but i got killed against my brother in his s4 which was a stock B6 S4. we both expected my car to win....and it couldn't from a dig or any other RPM. the is similar to a MS3 which is a 2.0T w/k04. IIRC the A3s were running 13.9 as a best so far. the lowest S4s are running 13.7s.

so again..they can have impressive numbers on paper...but it looks like they run high 13s to low 14s. on a 2.0T...this is an A4 though so heavier than a golf. but we were originally talking about a 1.8T golf w/ k04.

which is decent performance...again if we are going the long stretch...or highway run...i don't see a k04's 2.0T winning. this is the same for an A3.

and here we can see JET JOCKEY was the odd man out with the best time others were high 13s to mid 14s
with k04.

the GTRS and 71R elims were all on race gas....off all the time slips posted for bigger turbo'd A4s...they have only 2 running pump gas...and we have never seen another APR sIII run a high 12. any SIII A4's in chicago here typically run low 13s on race. and mid to high 13s on pump. these are just my experiences speaking from our ACCC gathering and typical GTGs.
