This is the grille I've been wondering about...

So prior to even placing the order for the B7 Avant that we now own I've always wondered what a full, mesh grille with no front filler plate or rings would look like and here is the closest example I could find on a modded RS6 by Kicherer.

The simplicity of this grille with no filler plate and possibly no rings I think would look awesome on the B7. And I'd totally be willing to try it out on my car. Do any of you guys know where I can get a grille that looks just like this without the rings?? I looked on the website for the company that modded that RS6, but they don't list that car yet on their site -> http://www.kicherer.net/frm_main.php?language=en They currently only list a whole bunch of mercs.

If I had to have the grille custom made I'd be willing to try that too! Just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Since when do honda accords look so nice especially with projector HID's. Besides, if someone can't distinguish an Accord from an Audi, they probably aren't into cars in the first place so why does it matter what they think?

well said, i didnt mean it like that, its just that the rings give the front end contrast, a plain mesh grille would look nice, but in my opinion i would rock the rings

can't deside if i like it or not. at first i loved it. now im not sure. if something hits it lightly seems like the whole grill is fucked along with the FMIC. need to see it w/o the black paint on the hood. I like it but something about it idk. looks sick with the rings on but there is something about it. Also doubt it would fit non s-line

I know, I wasn't trying to give you crap about it, just stating my opinion.

The contrast notion is justified. The anal and OCD side of me, loves simplicity and uniformity which is the prime reason why I like a grille like this and not broken up by the filler plate. The one and only reason I don't like the rings on this grille is that it doesn't look centered; whereas when the front filler plate is there, it is centered vertically and horizontally. I guess it's just me.

I have a hunch that what's odd about it is that the rings dont' look centered vertically like they do when the filler plate is there. That's the first thing that stuck out at me when i first saw it and even when I first began imagining what it would look when I first thought about it.

Doesn't look good to me. The filler plate creates a nice visual break that keeps the front grill from looking way too big. I also hate the pseudo-eyelids and I pretty much hate them on 99% of the cars out there, so maybe I'm not a good gauge if that car looks good to the modding community. It looks like it's sleepy and not sporty at all.

FYI, the eyelids you see in the headlights are part of the OEM design of the headlight housing, not aftermarket.

That's comparing apples to oranges IMO. Billet grille = metal grille. This is still plastic.

as far as i can tell from spy shots the new rs models will have honeycomb grilles with no cross bar just like the rs6 in the first photo. of course most of the spy shots have euro plates, which makes them look like the current gen with the full cross bar, but you can see the extra honeycomb off to the sides.

i'm not a huge fan since you can see the actual bumper through the mesh.

The pic shown though is of the current model RS6 or at least that's how it appears. Maybe they took design cues off the new one you are talking about and designed a grille for the current gen?

You aren't the only one. I don't see the flares on the white one either. I'm simply going off of certain things I see in the pic plus what they state in the description of that car which they claim is an RS6.

I think I know what picture you are talking about. They basically made a section on the grille where the plate would be without actually having this bar go across the grille and be flush with the edge of the grille. I've seen pic like that somewhere, just can't remember where.

When that time comes though, it'd be nice to have a grille like this that allowed more air to travel over the intercooler.

I too have always thought that would look awesome , but with the rings centered in the grill. However the bumper behind throws the look off. Just the radiator behind the grill would look prime or black awe intercooler. Also no power steering cooler.
