    2002 B6 - Good deal?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does this look like a good deal?

    http://www.carmax.com/enUS/view-car/...a-78579c892563

And, are there any issues with the 2002 B6's? I know its the first year of a new model, so usually there are problems, are there any major ones? I am hoping to find a 2004 but am not having the greatest luck looking at the moment.

    Thanks.

That's what I am planning to do, called the dealership today, just trying to sort out the financing (hopefully will hear back from them tomorrow) and will then (if all goes to plan) hit the road. Sucks that I can't look at the car first, but from the pictures it looks in good condition.

Anyone know if that blue was a popular USP color? most I see are silver/black.

It looks to be Moro blue, the only USP I have seen in Moro blue is member LampyB's. His car is pretty damn clean.

I personally wouldn't buy an audi without a warranty IMHO. If your coming to jersey I'm sure you can find tons of CPO'ed A4's within the same price range.

    Re: 2002 B6 - Good deal?

I can't believe people still shop at Carmax. They're such a rip-off! I remember looking at GTI's with a friend a few years ago, they had 2 Golfs and a GTI, both were price about 3 grand more than everywhere else in Dallas, with more mileage. I asked one of the salesman, about negotiating a price, he then gives me some spheel about they're no haggle pricing and how it benefits the consumer more. I wait about 10 secs after he was done and........................................ Needless to say he was a little annoyed. I asked another sales person about a warranty with that ridiculous price, she said we have a great 6 month powertrain warranty. Yahooo!

Bottomline this place is for suckers, who can't stand-up to a salesman.

did you see the carfax? i bet that lowered the price by couple thousands. if you can get a audiziner to check it out the car for you in person that will really help. sometimes with pictures you can't tell if things are "straight"

Thanks for pointing that out to me, I had thought about asking someone to go check it out if anyone was nearby. Luckily I have found one closer to me (about 30 minutes drive) for the same price and with less miles, clean history.

My Moro "USP" is pretty close to LampyB's. Only difference is I have the S4 rear. I haven't seen many USPs around Boston. Only ones I've seen are black and silver. Moro blue USP is pretty rare. I'd pick up that '05 USP!!

Thanks, all this advice is very helpful............ are there any particular areas I should look at on these cars when I go check any out? I am waiting on a call back about one that's close by, hopefully they give me what I want on my trade in and can work out a deal.

    Re: 2002 B6 - Good deal?

Update....... going to look at a USP tomorrow, its got around 52k on the clock, 6 speed manual, are there any particular things I should be looking out for on the test drive? I need to think up a good route to take on so I can get it into every gear, not sure how easy that will be (never driven a 6 speed).

Keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow I will be looking for first mods :)

    Re: 2002 B6 - Good deal?

Now you are talking, I would definatly try and get it on the highway and through some turns to see how it accelerates, brakes in corners, steers, listen for clunks or sqweeks, or prolblems with shifting. Ask when the brakes were done if they have been, check pad wear and rotor wear. Check tire wear. Look under the hood for any dry rotted vacuum lines or check valves. Ask if they have the oil change records and maintenance records and a spare keyfob. I'm sure there is something I left out... good luck and keep us posted.

Great thanks, I think I will use Google maps to see what highways are near the dealership, then see if I can plot out a decent route. I am not familiar with the area at all, I know vaguely where it is, but only been down that way once.

It might be worth your money to drive a little bit to get one. I flew to NY to pick up my USP and drove it back. Paid a little more, but you can't argue with 14k orig miles in 2008.

Expand your search area. The savings will sometimes outweight the plane ticket.

    Re: 2002 B6 - Good deal?

Well after test driving the car yesterday I really liked it, gears shifted really smoothly, no noises, everything worked, I was all set to buy it. But then the dealership tried telling me my car had been in multiple wrecks (front, side, rear) despite nothing showing up on the carfax report or autocheck report (they even tried to tell me it takes a few months to show up on these reports, I have had the car about a year and its been in no accidents so this stinks of BS). This system they use that gives a score based on the vehicles history was only a single point difference from the A4 I wanted to buy. They told me that my trunk lid indicates its been in a wreck because the lid slams down (the previous owner put on an aftermarket spoiler, its heavy, hence the trunk slams) that my bumper is crooked (can't see it myself) and blah blah blah............ anyways they were offering me next to nothing for my trade in which put payments at more than I could afford so no USP for me :(

It sucks, I really though that after they accepted my offer and knowing how much I had been offered a week before for my trade in, that I would have been leaving there with the A4 yesterday. Back to the drawing board.

2004 Nissan Maxima, most likely going to keep it now though until the wheels fall off, unless the deal of the century appears on a USP.
