How well do you know the body shop?
Most body shops I know who do custom work don't go through the process of sanding, priming, sanding, sanding, sanding, painting, sanding, sanding, sanding, clearcoat.
The most important thing to keep in mind is the type of paint used. With flexible materials, mostly variants of plastic or hybrid plastics/rubber paint is KEY to bonding.
If the body shop doesn't use the correct compounds, it will chip. If the body shop doesn't do the necessary prep work, it will chip. Fact of the matter is, one will need both the correct paint as well as the due diligence for putting in the work to get the job done correctly.
I"m not calling you a liar, just suggesting that you ask them what type of paint they will be using for specific parts of the car if and when you do body work.
