Can bad motor mounts hurt anything?

I know my motor mounts have had their fluid leaked out for a long time now but everything still feels smooth. Can It cause any damage running them till they are completely gone(or longer)? I just want to get my dang car chipped but fixing shit keeps me from doing so. Last time I was about to get chipped my fuel pump went out so now I ready again but I'm worried about the mounts.

I was on mine when they were flat cuz I didn't know they were flat lol! But my advice would be to buy either OEM ones or spend the money and get the 034 Street Density Motor Mounts, they are worth it! <--Before you get chipped

i don't think it can ruin anything, but bad mounts can but extra stress on the drivetrain and exhaust.

drivetrain is what I was worried about. A broken mount on my sisters stratus was probably the cause of a trans problem. I figured since that motor was transversely mounted it might have more issues from a broken mount.

When mine went, I'm pretty sure it caused my flex-pipe to crack

Re: Can bad motor mounts hurt anything?

Bad motor mounts will cause excess vibration through the drivetrain leading to premature wear and potentially failure of the exhaust flex joint and shifter linkage. You'll also wear out a bunch of other stuff rather quickly.

If you are looking to flash the car with upgraded software I would not do that without replacing your broken/leaking motor mounts. It'll just cause even more stress.

I have OEM motor mounts (two front motor mounts and one rear trans) if you are interested in something cheap (as opposed to 034 Street Density). They have about 125k on them and were working perfectly fine. Its a pretty quick swap-in, swap-out job.

The reason you "feel" that the car is still solid, is because it has slowly grown on you and you still perceive the car as being solid. But I guarantee you that if you were to install new mounts, your shifting will be ALOT smoother.

Get the mount first. I say the street density 034 mounts

I will totally go for the 034 mounts when I change them. And Idk if it has grown on me because I have only had the car a lil over a year, and I think it was like this when I got it. Thanks for everyones input.

Re: Can bad motor mounts hurt anything?

Here is a little after thought. After reading posts about bad mounts effecting exhaust I came to this conclusion.

Before I got my Mags I posted that my stock passenger side muffler was hanging low. Then I got my Mags and installed them. Both sides where perfectly even but after 3 months or so the passenger side muffler started to sag. Never knew what might cause this till now.

Does anyone think this is a logical conclusion.

BTW I ordered 034 motor mounts (street) and a snub today. O, and a T-shirt.

Nope, my driver side muffler tip is 3/4 inch lower than the other side and I just reaplaced the motor mounts. I think its the exhaust hangers because I need to rehang my exhaust. Plus it rattles agaisnt the transmission cross-member....

Well the stock muffler was 3-4 inches lower than the other. After the magnaflow mufflers everything was great. Now the passenger side is low 1". Its not that big of a deal I was just wondering. At least the mags weigh about half as much as stock.

Good to hear. I just know it is 10times better than my old sentra. So it being even smoother (here soon) makes me
