I just put the lower radiator hose sensor in the new hose and it is pretty lose. Is there suppose to be a rubber gromet, or seal that should be in the sensor housing?

    Thanks in advance

The sensor is hitting the pep cock in the hose. Did audi change the sensor from 02?

    Re: Lower Radiator Hose

theres an o-ring on the sensor and then a plastic clip that holds it in place

We did that but the sensor still seems really lose. Is this normal?

No that is not normal. If you are sure you have the "O" ring installed then your problem is most likely that you have not completely seated the sensor. Pull it out and put a little Vaseline or similar on the "O" ring. You may have to twist it a little to get it to seat all the way. If you start the car with the sensor loose the sensor will blow out and you will puke out all your coolant as soon as you build any pressure in the system.

    Good luck!

    Re: Lower Radiator Hose

keep fidgeting with the sensor, o-ring, and clip until the sensor is properly seated. I remember doing this and I left the sensor half on loosely and all my coolant drained out over night. definitely make sure its on correctly.

Anyone know if they changed the sensor housing since 02, my parts guy brought his truck by and we put 2 brand new o-rings on and it seats snug like it should.

    Re: Lower Radiator Hose

Any chance you have the wrong sensor and you are trying to put a G62 sensor in the lower hose?

    G62 sensor looks like this:

I am putting in the same sensor that came out of my old hose. It looks like the ones pictured but has a grey plug housing.

Then the only thing I can suggest is to make sure it is seated all the way into the hose. I am guessing that you just haven't seated it all the way.

    Again, good luck!

    Re: Lower Radiator Hose

I assume you still have the old hose. Put the sensor in the old hose and note the insertion depth. Then compare it to the insertion depth in the new hose.
