Sad day for an S4 owner

Well its not me, so I am not that sad! My buddy who is in the military with me, who got his B6 before me and actually got me into the S4 after i rode around with him, is selling it! And his reason? Not high gas prices or that fact he cant afford it, but because he stresses over every little ding, scratch, and issue he has with it. His interior is flawless, his car drives like a dream, but since we park in a huge open parking lot he has had some bad luck and got a couple of dings and scratches. I completely understand that he is angry and doesnt even want to fix the body stuff, but it is no reason to get ride of his car. Now he neglects it, hasnt washed it in a while (makes mine look real good sitting next to his :D), and rarely drives it. I wish i could make him change his mind..

Tell him to go get it detailed and done up right. Seeing the car in its pure form will make him change his mind. If that doesn't, then nothing will.

I know his pain b/c I parallel park in philadelphia every day. my bumpers compare with his door dings i'm sure. but i agree with ^^... tell him to get that car detailed up and remind him how cool the car is. besides, isn't anything else he gets going to have to be parked in the same place?

^^ Agreed - A fresh detail will also help him if does decide to sell it as well. When you get into a funk with a car a detail always helps.

Plus, if he does end up selling it, a fresh detail will return much more than it's actual cost on resale. Getting it detailed is a good first step regardless of his final decision.

i concur....after repainting my car about 5 months ago. i somewhat neglected it. i just had the entire car detailed inside/out. Looks like glass. I'm in love once again.

I concur with him selling it. He will worry less and have less stress in his life which should more than offset the pain of it being gone.

Agree about selling it. I mean it's his car and if he is not happy with with it for whatever reason it's best to let it go.
Mine is a daily driver and being parked in a crappy garage at work and I had to accept that it will get dinged ... 7 days into owning it I got a scratch about 12" long. It sucks but it's part of owning a vehicle. Others don't care about it as much as you do.

If you really want to respark that love for his car, first get it detailed so it looks nice, THEN, go for a nice backcountry drive and let it all out! These cars were made to be driven hard and if you don't do it every once in awhile, you can forget what you have

What about getting a beater for a DD, so he can still enjoy driving the S on weekends or w/e. I understand the stress involved with owning a nice car but the pure bliss of driving it surely outweighs that.

Myself I'm keeping the S for good. I plan to buy a daily driver in the next year when one of the new electric cars comes out, like the volt or the new prius or insight.....

Actually didn't even think of the sell. Yea, he's gonna take a giant hit on the car when he sells it, so much that it might just change his mind about letting it go.

i work 6 nights a week @ a store next 2 8 bars fill with drunks for pass 9 yrs. i park my B7 S4 in the public parking 8-10 hrs a night 6 nights a week.. my 92 prelude dings dents 2 hit n run..my 93 integra dings dents 1 hit n run.. my 04 A4 dings dents key..stolen..your friend should feel bless where he parks..talk about stress!!! I just worry about my S4 interior n engine..

look for a paintless dent removal company in your area, along with a detailer... itll look like new.

Sounds rough, but I guess you havent seen an army parking lot :D It is in horrible shape, our Military Police are more apt to hit your car than stop someone from doing it, and humvees come tearing through with no remorse, crossing my fingers still I dont get nailed!

I consider myself very fortunate that my TT & S4 aren't daily drivers. My Avant is, but I park in a decent lot where the spaces are nice and wide. I thank God that my cars don't get banged up. I feel for your friend. I hope he gets a decent price for his car.
