    AVIC d3 install questions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am installing the avic d3 into my 2000 s4. I bought the powered antennae adapter, harness adapter, and dash kit. Do I need a cage for mounting it or will it mount to the stock cage? Also how do you do the video bypass so it plays while driving instead of only when the ebrake or whatever is on? ANy help would be great or pointing me in the right direction.

If I remember right you can just connect the cable that goes to the e-brake to a common earth, should work all the time then.

    Re: AVIC d3 install questions

avic411.com has a sticky for the bypass, VERY easy...also, when my d3 was installed they used a cage, so im almost positive you need one.

The dash kit crutchfield and installer.com are sending out does not require a cage. The part number is 99-9105. To by-pass the e-brake thing, move the mute wire on the harness into the empty slot directly above it. Then connect the wire to ground. Of course, that is illegal to do. :)
