Plastic bag melted on my exhaust pipe

What is the best method to get the hardened caramelized plastic off of my pipe? A plastic bag flew up under my car and has been stinking up my wagon.

When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.

Take it out for a drive and heat up the pipes and burn the rest of it off!

Been driving it for about a week or two with the stink and it is still a fairly big piece of plastic stuck on there. Tried steel wool, no luck.

Maybe try what Winstson said but when you return from a long drive put on gloves then try the steel wool while the pipes are hot.

this happened to me about a year ago on my subaru, your best bet is to just use some very very coarse sand paper like 200 grit and it should come right off, you could work up to fine like 2000 to get a mirror shine if you like. Hope this helps
