Vag Com no go for me (loaner), have an LM-1 and looking to nab AFR numbers

Hope I don't get flamed hard for this noob Q, but here goes...

I have a full 3" TB exhaust. no cat.. standalone, mafless setup, blah blah blah.

Do I need to get a new bung put in to use the LM1? or can I pull out the sensor in my car to replace with the LM1 for some logs? I THINK it is only a two wire... I can dbl check, but I have a custom narrow gauge also. I thought it was running to that alone, but I can't tell...

    Noob,
    Bill.

Hey Bill, you should be able to replace your primary 02 if you have the standalone... what happened to the TAPP setup?

    Thanks guys,

I don't have a TAPP tune, older TAP (Total Audi Perf) chip for 94 octane and boost, plus SDS EFI.

I was wondering about the tailpipe mode for non cat cars... yikes $75 for a little holder/bracket, sheesh... wonder if anyone near me has one I could borrow....

I don't have access to the pros who built this monster, otherwise I would have an answer on the o2 sensor... thanks again guys. If anyone else has any advice, please chime in.

Just wondering if I have to.. there is the 'oem' one I referred to, but it would be the diff in paying to get someone to do it next week versus me being able to log tomorrow :) So, you're saying I should just get another bung in?

Yes and place it at the bottom of your down pipe or at least 18" down stream from the turbo.

Okay, thanks Mike, AudiA4_20T and andyrew, appreciate the help. Not many (ANY) euro tuners here, so the forums are close to my only resource. As a DIY'er, I am a little too cautious with things :)

One more Q: that position won't be super easy to get to after the install. Am I ok with leaving the sensor in place, run the cable somewhere safe, through the firewall and just plug in the LM1 when I want?

You are supposed to have the 02 connected to the lm-1 always so the sensor is kept clean by the heater

Well you can put it after the down pipe, this way you can remove it from the bung when you dont want to use it. If you leave it in the pipe without powering it up the sensor will go bad sooner.

Re: Vag Com no go for me (loaner), have an LM-1 and looking to nab AFR numbers

Sorry for the shite pic, but here you can see where I am still wondering... the O2 sensor you can see there is around the 2 o'clock position (pic is taken on a slight angle) and about 12 inches down from where the exhaust meets the turbo.

Anything further down runs into body... am I screwed for any other kind of placement because it should be between 10 and 2 o'clock, correct? Looks like I could place it somewhat next to the original, 1 inch closer to turbo, or immediately after that seam (likely don't want the bung on that seam eh?)

    Thoughts?

I wonder if you will have any issues with the dump tube being so close...

Re: Vag Com no go for me (loaner), have an LM-1 and looking to nab AFR numbers

Easier to put it under the car, plus the wide band sensors are very sensitive to heat which is why the wide band companies say to put them further down stream on a turbo car.

here is a picture of where mine is located. This is on my full 3" exhaust, on my turn down the sensor is angled a little more.

Re: Vag Com no go for me (loaner), have an LM-1 and looking to nab AFR numbers

Oooohhhhh, okay, that looks good. I can get to the exhaust pretty easily with a quick lift of the jack. And I am only going to use it here and there.

That looks to be between 9 and 10 o'clock, assuming since it works for you, it works Weird, your 3 inches looks bigger than my 3 inches, hahaha.

Thank you again you guys, you kick ass!!

Sorry for bumping and old thread, but thanks again for the pic Mike. There's a ton of room in there up under the trans tunnel and everything, I won't bore you guys with a pic, but basically a cpl pumps on the jack and a stand and mine is in almost the exact same spot, almost at 10 o'clock, but not too close to the trans.

I was able to take my 02 sensor off once at the track without even using a jack, but then I am just over 6 ft tall and only 155 lbs.

Haha, interesting, I am also 6'2", so, good reach... just looks too damn low for me to get under... this will only go in a cpl times a summer anyway (during some 'adjustments').

Working with SDS and possibly changing the 94:104 ratio for some more power.

Ok, I DEF need to jack my car to get to my exhaust, haha. But it was a piece of cake.

Not sure right now how to move the Innovate ".log" file into something Excel can display, but I think there is something in the FAQ or something.

Hard to decipher everything, I made some notes beforehand, but do not have the RPM converter yet, Mike did you end up getting an Auxbox? I want!

Looks like light throttle cruising is around 13.5.... Gets quite rich when I am WOT, but typically low 11's near redline, dipping into 10's.. I think I had a rich high rpm stumble tonight, spotted a cpl 9's.

    All sound 'normal'?

Yes I have the auxbox in the car now, but might need to send it out to Innovate to have it fixed for the EGT readings.

best thing to do is just capture a screen shot of logworks, then host that picture and post it. If you want to read it in a spread sheet you can save it as a .txt file by using the export pull down tab when your looking at your log using logworks, then just open that file from the spreadsheet. I tried saving it to a .csv file and it didn't work but the .txt file did work and ends up looking just like a Vagcom file.
