    Sirius installation advices needed

    Hi there,

I'm currently looking for advices regarding installing a Sirius Tuner in my RS4 (B7 model)

I've been browsing on the forum for a couple hours now and still can't find the proper way to achieve what I want. From my reading I can tell that there are some pretty good techs around so maybe you'll be able to help me.

So, for now my idea is to install this unit and try to integrate it as much as possible with the pre-wiring in the car if possible. I'm not necessarily looking for integration with the RNS-E unit but if possible to get some it would be nice.

I've looked into the OEM parts offered by Audi but these units are ridiculously over priced (670$ + install) which brings the total price somewhere near 850$

An installer is also talking about a “FM direct connect” that plugs in between the current FM antenna and the Sirius Tuner. You then choose an FM station and Voil*! But I have some doubts about sound quality. This is a “wired” solution but still going through the FM input.
    Here’s the thing: http://shop.siriuscanada.ca/edealinv...ParentID=16689
With that setup I’m completely bypassing the existing wires and that kinda sucks.

I’ve also seen much information regarding AUX input on the RNS-E unit but again it looks quite complicated to enable it (needs a software flash or something like that)

Well I think you get the idea. So if you have any good experience or advices on the proper way to reach my goal, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

    Re: Sirius installation advices needed

Why mess up your ride with some aftermarket stuff? The satellite radio integration with the RNS-E is what you want, so you can just tune the stations with the stereo controls and see the song names etc. You should be able to get an OEM sirius tuner on eBay for $300, and pop it in yourself without much fuss. Your car comes prewired, and the RNS-E should just recognize it (you *MIGHT* need a vagcom to tell it the Sirius is there, but I don't think so). There's a howto on audiforum.com that might help you out (good diagram of where the little wire harness is in the trunk).

PM me if you need a bit of help.

Thanks for the advice. It's exactly what I went for after getting pretty much the same answer on all forums!

Got the Sirius Radio for 225$ on ebay and managed to install it within 30 minutes including switching the CAN-BUS jumper on the footwell (which is the only "touchy" part)

    Thanks for offering your help
