    My Audi is teh brokeded....Accelerator Pedal Position issues...HALP!!!

    So I'm in the middle of this tropical storm, right? Its raining heavy, 50mph winds, dark, all the good stuff. To make matters worse, I'm in the middle of fucksville. I'm at my girlfriends dorm which is an hour an a half away from my residence (aka no tools).

    So, I'm coming home from the mall. Just bought a sweet pair of new kicks (see image here). Halfway home, my car seems to buck and stop moving when I press the gas. I figure oh a charge pipe blew off, not really a big deal (still sucks though based on the circumstances). So I pull over and realize, wait the car is idling. So this startles me, so I try to accelerate when I realize the gas pedal doesn't work. Great! So next step is to check for codes, I pull the normals and then P1639. I also realize that my EPC light is on with the car being on. Call up my homo lover AMC, he checks it for me to verify its an Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor. So I gain this knowledge. So this is what I do.

    - Check connections at TB and tap it with my hand to see if it could be a sensor going out
    - Unplug my ECU and plug it back in
    - Check for a fuse for this sensor on the fuse panel (found none to my dismay)
    - Clear the codes and try to start the car
    - Tap/lightly kick the top part of my pedal where the sensor is

    Well, the last part worked....kinda. I tap/kick the sensor and it revs up, so I try to put the car into gear and it stops. Over and over again. As soon as I go to put it into gear. Come to realize, the Accelerator doesnt work AT ALL when the clutch is in, period. But it intermittently works when the clutch isn't in. So I baby it to my girlfriends dorm in 2nd gear (shut off car, put in 2nd and started in 2nd). When I'm about to be at the dorm, I realize that when I got WOT, it doesn't go. Which is probably related to a fucked up sensor, but I just want to mention it. I punch it, the car stays in vacuum at about 16. Oh that sucks.

    Well I've narrowed it down to the pedal position sensor, which in 99.9% sure it is. But I want to ideas or anything from anyone else to see what people think. I've looked around searching and people have had this issue, but it seems like their car was driveable at least. Mine pretty much isnt.

    EDIT: I just realized a lot of people had this same issue when going through car washes and moisture possibly getting into the ECU box and then it drying out and it being fine. Hmmm.

    lol ive been skateboarding/snowboarding for like 10 years.

    thank you for helping with my issue derek. before this happened i actually thought of you, no homo. there was a store next to the mall called DEB, some girlie gay store, kind of like you. lol j/k

    You are such a hipster! Nice to know I am on your mind. I thought you solved your issue (see post #2)? So I figured we could go on to bashing one another and getting this sucker locked up!!

    I've got a brand new S4 electronic pedal, never fitted, was supplied in error for a client, with a 2,8 30V.

    But being RHD, may be different to yours.

    update: so i keep getting the accelerator position too high. i tried to do the idle and tpa relearn, but that didnt seem to work, i get the same code with the car on, off, it doesnt matter.

    now for the weird part. if i let out the clutch, it revs up to redline (without me pressing gas), and i was getting a brake switch code, so i check the switch and the sensor was off, so i adjusted the switch on the brake. now when i press the brake, it revs up without me pressing the gas. if i unplug the clutch and brake, it revs up without me pressing the gas.

    im still stuck in my girlfriends dorm parking lot, im about to call a tow truck but im trying to get anyinsight to this.


    imma try the idle relearn now that the brake switch is adjusted correctly, but i have a feeling it wont change anything. oh and its sunny and warm right now and its drying up and nothing seem to have changed with that either.

    so with this new information, i need some help possibly. since im running out of ideas before i have to get it towed. can anyone send me the wiring diagrams for the clutch, brake, and throttle pedal? i think it could be because of a shorted wire with the funky brake problem and revving up. thanks in advance.

    after swapping ecus, swapping gas pedals, a million throttle adaptations. i figured it all out. moisture was the issue. found where i was leaking water too, around the bottom of the ecu box where the gasket goes. nothing some rtv couldnt fix. all is well :-D

    oh and a 2000 s4 gas pedal and a 2001.5+ s4 gas pedal are the same. the plug is in a different spot but both work. just to let people know.
