    Question changing interior color?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
so my b7 came with the tan, beige, leather. Is it crazy to think about completely changing the int. color to black leather?? I really love the look of black leather, then i found a pic of a moro with black leather.... sex, pure sex.
So folks any thoughts, ideas... anything would be appreciated. I need to know if this is practical? any ideas on the cost of a project like this? And what type of shop do you take it to for this kind of an over haul???
    thanks,
    Jesse

    Re: changing interior color?

If u go for original parts over yours, it will cost a whole lot of money plus your old stuff will be totally useless...
One thought is to paint some of yours that could be painted, but I am not sure on the out come of that...One had done it in here, but I cant seem to find the thread...

time to talk to the best auto upholstery shop in the area, or propose an interior swap / trade on some of the bulletin board classifieds.

Katzkin is the best aftermarket leather and made for any application.

With time and the correct tools you could do the install yourself.

    Re: changing interior color?

i say check the pick and pull. maybe they got some destroyed rides that you can just purchase the seats out of. then its an easy fit and probably cheaper. just check to see if any holes/stiching coming undone and then take that dusty POS and give it some good cleaning/lathering w/ the leather treatment stuff and be good to go. word.

    Re: changing interior color?

    thanks guys!
i had thought of junk yards for seats and other stuff, wasnt really 100% on the idea, but it would be the most cost effective.

    Re: changing interior color?

I think the best way to do it would be to find someone that wants your tan interior and has a black interior and just swap.

I've always wanted the white interior out of and S4...

I had the interior done on my formula about 6 yrs ago and it was 2k.
If he orders the kit and does the install himself he could probably end up spending around 1k.

    Re: changing interior color?

You can dye the dashboard, door cards, and pther vinyl/plastic bits with SEM Colourcoat, available at CarQuest and other fine automotive retailers. :P
I've used this stuff on two cars now, and it's in my Interior Makeover thread in the B6 section. I'm getting my seats and door cards reupholstered for around $1200, provided I supply the leather and alcantara. The headliner is gonna cost me around $800. A lot of the black bits and pieces you can source from Germany. PM me if you need help, as I am in the middle of doing the same thing with my Ming B6.

    Re: changing interior color?

Two words my friend: trade in.

IF there is a difference in price resulting in you needing to pay, I would expect that difference would be equal to or less than the price of re-doing the ENTIRE interior. This is in the same arena as totally repainting an Audi; it's never as good as OEM (without sacrificing an arm/leg/nut), and based on things I've read around the forum, brings the value of the car down.

    Re: changing interior color?

If you're going to pay a shop to do the work, why would you just get straight black!? Why not get something different and cool...

I say you either find someone in your area who wants to trade or find a wrecked car that you can take the seats out of...Hell maybe you can even talk the junkyard into trading your tan seats for their black ones.

    Re: changing interior color?

Yesterday, while I was putting my new racing seats, one came, and offered to buy my whole interior, which is White/Grey leather, with sport electrical seats...
The tempation for cash was very big, however I had to think the time that the car will go stock again in the future...

So yeah, there are people bored with their colour that want beige, or Grey...
