FYI, 5w 30 Amsoil took care of the lifter tick on my 30v.

Just thought it would help others on here.

While my A4 was getting a custom exhaust bent up I had them change the oil as well.

I had no idea Amsoil was so damned expensive, 3 times as much as the Mobile 1 I had been running!

I normally do all my own oil changes, but I figured it couldnt hurt to have them do it while she was on the rack right? 109 dollars later the oil change was done.

    Cliff Notes:
Amsoil 5w 30 oil & filter rid my 98 30v 5spd of all lifter tick on start up. A common problem on the V6's.

Yea, I kinda got a great deal on the exhaust work and he came in $10 under the estimate so I didnt bust my balls.
