    Anyone running GT Tires?

I need to buy a new set of tires, and i was considering the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinums. They're on sale at TireRack, down from $170 to $116 a tire. I know what the difference is between a GT tire and a UHP tire, however, i wanted to see if anyone was running, or has run, GT tires and what their opinions were. TR reviews seem to be decent, and this is a pretty good deal.

My driving style is conservative to sporty, mostly rural, with a splash of highway here and there. I like the Kumho brand tires, but i'm not a fan of the road-noise most UHP's give off, so that is why i'm considering these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=1

GT tires are more comfort & ride oriented than UHP tires. Also, because of the GT nature, they can use more durable and long-wearing rubber.

The LX Platinums are a new tire, so there is relatively little experiences out there.

    I prefer UHP tires myself.

They will be more comfortable, more economical (mpg), and last a lot longer. The only downside is that you won't be able to rail a corner as hard. The vast majority of the cars on the road are on tires like these.

We run tires like this on the Outback. Pirelli 4000 and now Kumhos similar to what you're looking at. The Pirellis were $400 installed and better in the winter than the Kumhos but not as sporty.

    Comfort - check
    Economical (mpg) - check
    Last longer - double check

Those are the most important factors to me at the moment. I'm willing to give them a shot since they're new to the Kumho line of tires. I want A/S tires, so i'm willing to deal with with a stiffer sidewall and reduced cornering in order to gain the 3 key points above. When i finally get my S/C in the car, i'll see about getting a set of UHP A/S and go from there.

As always - i appreciate the help!

Even though the Pirelli P4000 had a 60k or 80k mile guarantee they were still surprisingly good in the winter. The Outback has a better AWD system then we do since it includes a mechanical rear limited slip but it was still better than expected. That car on all seasons wiped the floor with the Jetta on it's fancy Pilot Alpin snow tires.
