The problem with trying to make that pipe fit a different turbo is the placement. An eliminator series turbo would bolt up with 0 issues. Any other turbo gets moved up, down, forward, back ... and the bends may not be the same.

What do you plan on going to? If you're thinking of a GT or T series, I would save the pennies now.

No because it still retains some restrictive properties. However, a test pipe would throw a CEL.

The restriction or lack there of isn't what sets off the CEL (P0420 catalyst efficiency code). The purpose of the catalyst is to store oxygen. This is why SAI was introduced, to increase the oxygen. The oxygen breaks down the big 3 emission chemicals and releases them as less harmful ones.
C0 -> C02
NOx -> N20
HC -> H20

The precat O2 will see the tweaks/wave of rich/lean adjustments, the post cat O2 should see smooth wave or flat line. When the post-cat O2 sees the rapid tweaks of A/F mixture it knows the catalyst isn't working properly.
