Well, I finally got around to putting the APR kit in. I had a couple of issues with a blown dv and pcv valve that I wanted to address before tearing into the car. It took me about 12 hours, not too bad for a dude in a wheelchair I guess. I installed all the hardware and then drove it down to get flashed. I drove it down in stock mode and an SS Camaro and a Lancer both wanted to race. I couldn't believe my bad luck because without the software I didn't want to get the car into boost. This and I have only had maybe 3 people try to mess with the car with the Stage 2 ECU.
Well, after I got it flashed at Streetwerke I took it home and noticed a huge difference. With the chip on 91 setting the car will BBQ the tires in first or even second from a roll. The car in the higher gears just keeps pulling like it should have if Audi put the correct turbo on it from the factory. The car seems to be even faster a few days later, maybe to the ECU adaptive program. Boost spikes at about 25 psi and levels to about 18-19 and at redline drops to about 16-17 psi. I had the car dynoed before putting the kit on and have an appointment to bring the car in next week and get it redone to see the improvement on stock, 91,93,100 tuning.
The kit is first rate, it looks like it came from the factory. Even the factory style one time hose clamps come in the kit. The only hint that something has been changed it the dv is now located in the front of the car. In addition to the kit I needed a gallon of Audi antifreeze/coolant, a intercooler pipe from a gti for dv relocation, a new fuel pump cam follower, 5 quarts of Mobil 1 0-40w oil and filter, 4 NGK BKR7EIX plugs. Installation went smooth and I ran into no issues aside from Audi put everything too damn close together!!
