Question Correlation between FATS and 1/4 Times

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm curious for any of you who have logged FATS times and 1/4 times, is there any correlation between the IMPROVEMENT of your FATS times to your 1/4 times? For example, say you had a baseline of 3.5 FATS and on the same setup, you ran a 12.2 at the track. Then, you made some improvements to your car (hardware, software, tuning, or whatever) and then you ran a 3.0 FATS. What would that translate into 1/4 time improvements over the last run?

Re: Correlation between FATS and 1/4 Times

Interesting. But I think there are more things accountable for 1/4 mile. Sure it will be quicker, but I don't think any correlation between the two. Your launch, temp, shifting, etc would have to be exact every time. Of coarse if you ran a 3.5 fats to a 3.0, your 1/4 time *should* decrease in time and increase in MPH.

But, just like the thread with FATS times with other cars in comparison, it would be neat to see fats in relation to chp, whp, and 1/4 times. Get a list of cars that log FATS with dyno sheets and 1/4 times.

Good point. Let's assume the same consistent launches, conditions, shifts, etc. Maybe there is and maybe there isn't a correlation. Just didn't know if there's some magical formula. If the answer is "no", then cool. I was just curious.

i mean, if we are all talking about similar setup k03 and k04 then yeah i bet you can make a colleration. but when you throw GT setups into the mix with a far different powerband in, its not going to be the same.

Right.. There is no correlation between fats and 1/4 mile times. A gt car that laggy will have slower fats that a k04 car that is very responsive. A properly tuned and driven gt car will destroy a k04 car in the 1/4 mile.

i'd say if any maybe correlation between trap speed and FATS ya know. I've yet to bring my car to the track but plan on doing so this fall. I run 3.4-3.5 FATS on not only a full interior and full everything in the car but with a passenger! i cant log alone i always EF it up, but also with a 75lb sub box etc... i dont take shizzz out of my car, its what makes it special :) haha
