Trunk switch and button don't work. Key fob does.

The button on the drivers door and the button on the trunk lid don't seem to do anything, but the key fob pops the trunk open just fine.

It's been like this since I changed the battery in the car 4 months ago.

My biggest problem is that the key fob is dissabled when the car is running, so in order to open my trunk, I have to turn the car off, pull the key out, then push the key fob button.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

go back and stick your key in the lock for the trunk and make sure it is facing vertically and not side to side.

umm yes there is a key hole to the trunk...... I have a 2003 A4 aka B6. It is right under neath where you would grab to open the trunk.

Re: Trunk switch and button don't work. Key fob does.

Wait, when the key hole is turned the wrong way, the button inside the drivers door won't open it? WTF! I can understand turning off the button back there, but the switch in the drivers door should always open it (I would think).

If it wasn't pouring down rain I'd be trying it right now.

I'll report back in the morning.

    THANKS!

    A4 TSCHUSS wins.

I don't know why the key hole shuts off the button in the drivers door, and I don't know when I put the key in that hole back there...... but rotating it with the key fixed all my problems!

    Thanks!

Re: Trunk switch and button don't work. Key fob does.

Valet reasons....a valet key won't open the back seats or the trunk. Therefore you disable the trunk switch and lock all that up. give a valet key and the only thing they can do is park your car....golf clubs are safe and sound in the trunk....or dead hookers, whatever you choose to carry back there
