Meh, little raspy. Just theres not a hole lot of tone there. But for $50, you cant beat it.

its just the muffler and straight pipe instead of resonator. most piping is stock, gutted s4 muffler should be loud.no more clips

I got a full aftermarket cat-back for a MK4 for $50 from a junk yard. My exhaust cost me almost 4 digits tho.

Re: s4 muffler, resonator delete on stock piping [pics-vid]

a buddy of mine put an s4 muffler on his car without any resonator, then had new 2.5" tubing ran from the flex back. hate to say it, but it sounds like shit. take that clip and multiply it by about 10. it sounds like the most junked ass APC muffler on a honda.

he turned around, went back and asked them to stick a resonator on. they used a straight through style resonator and it sounds a lot better now, still a little rasp when he first takes off, but nothing like it was before.

so if you're into a nice deep sounding exhaust, get a good resonator.

The sound is very shallow and raspy, Makes the engine sound like a small displacement honda. Thats the difference between chambered mufflers and resonated mufflers, a resonator will eliminate all of the high tones and leave you with a deep mellow tone.

IMHO ADD a cherrybomb or similar resonator/glasspack to that system and it will sound SO much better.

I was thinking about doing the same for my 2.8q. I have my stock S4 catback laying around and wanted to have some nice looking tips on my A4 and figured might as well remove the center muffler and see how it comes out.

On a side note, anyone have any idea how close the 2.8 catback is to the S4 catback? From what I can tell, they look almost identical.
