So basically i found this thread on an Evo forum and found it very interesting. Wondering how something like this would be done on an a4 cause it's really sick.

tell me about it. The light output of 5k with the color of 12k. That cut off color line is so thick and crisp. I really want to know if this is possible with a set of e-codes. Cause if so...i'm for sure doing it.

our lights aren't deep enough to really get it right.

you can do it but your lights will never seal correctly -- i already looked into this lol

I thought about doing this with a Range Rover projector. No idea where i would start but have you ever noticed a Range Rover's headlights from a distance??? They're almost hypnotizing...

Re: a pretty cool idea (HID content)

^^ that's a good idea. I actually have noticed range rovers at night and i know exactly what you mean.

And to b6lovin... well do you think that instead of changing the projector if i were to get some e-codes that they could color mod the existing projector in those? Because as far as lighting goes, the e-codes from what i've heard are damn good, and i'm sure you know this as well. So do you think that without changing the projector it would make it better?

that is NOT a thick cutoff. I did this back in the day, yes, it makes the color shift more dramatic, but it also has more light bleed.

I've heard about this. I guess it's good if the beam pattern is as bad as that evo's was I dont think ours is even bad, but whatever floats your boat. Alot of the JDM guys in my area talk about it/have done it.

The cutoff on the e-codes is slightly better than the stockers, but not nearly as crisp as the TSX modded ones.

Re: a pretty cool idea (HID content)

guys they are called retro-fits and i have made 2 pairs for my old jetta i had using infiniti fx projectors ... go to the forums on www.hidplanet.com for all the information you could possibly want haha if you have any questions at all they will definitly be able to help. it is also a great place to buy projectors from ... as for projectors, the tsx are very good and have great colour, but they are only single-xenons, for a really good bi-xenon you should go with a acura TL with a clear lens cause they are incredible. the best for single xenones are the s2000 projectors. here are a couple pictures of one of the sets i did on my jetta.

I don't know a whole lot about cutoff but whenever i see one in oncoming traffic, they're so blue...looks almost ~8000K from a distance....but its not scattered at all and never blinds me. and as it gets closer it gets so white...almost looks yellowish when its parallel to you.

yes the land rover hid's look soo nice, but from what i have read they are not the best projectors... they are apparently very narrow and not all that bright ... if you want colour then yes they are a good choice, but if you want quality they are probably not your best bet

Instead of trying to fit a complete TSX/S2K projector into a B6 housings, I'm sure it's possible to mate just the lens from one of those projectors to a valeo xenon projector. I'd give that a try myself, if I wasn't so lazy

That is a horrific cutoff and will blind oncoming traffic.

You guys ready for some learnin?
Our eyes do not pick up blue at the same levels as other colors. It is actually much lower levels than others and the brain amplifies it to compensate. This is why blue LEDs seem brighter than other colors especially red or green (the two best colors for maintaining night vision). This is also why some blue hues look amazing in direct sunlight and why the blue fringe of HID lights is so blinding. Make the blue bigger and/or brighter and you become a bigger asshole without gaining any visual range or clarity benefits for yourself.

The best HID lighting will have the smallest blue band. Better for you and better for oncoming traffic.

haha i am totally with you guys on that one with the blue, like yah the blue looks nice, but really what does it matter ... are HID's not meant for better safety? this is why i got fx's for my jetta, they are very wide and very bright with very little colour ... they are also the most compact decent projector out there

isn't the width of the beam also dangerous for on-coming traffic if its too wide?

Re: a pretty cool idea (HID content)

it can be if your projectors are aimed to high (which is a common problem with Retrofits), but if aimed properly a wide beam will not effect the oncoming traffic other then over bumps and such which any beam will do that. with a wide beam that is aimed right you will never effect the oncoming traffic on a highway or anything. the lexus ls430 has the widest and best single xenon you can buy and it has a pretty low colour and also does not blind oncoming traffic at all due to proper aiming.

well definitly the s2k or ls430 for single xenon and for bi-xenon the best is a TL projector with a ZKW clear lens swap

if i remember correctly, the s2k projectors were rated as the best xenon projector in the auto industry.

Anyone with any more headway on this? I'm thinking about throwing in some Range Rover projectors (I read they are the same projectors as used in the M6 and a few other cars, just set differently) into my S4 bixenons. Gotta get ballasts for them first, I guess.

Can I use my A4 bulbs with my S4 lights? Someone also said that I can use my 5g ballasts for the S4 lights, but I've always read you need the 5gl. Can anyone confirm either way?
