A noob who needs help picking up a gorgeous b7.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I don't mind even if the guy from the dealership sees this thread,
because I'm simply asking for opinions from guys like yall that have much more experiences with the car through all those years while being an AUDI owner. The guy's an outstanding sport, good personality for real, hands down a gd guy. If all goes well, I'll drag each and every one of my buddies to his spot to get some new rides XD

    First of all,
    it's a 2008 audi a4 b7 2.0T
    -tech package (no navigation)
-ipod dock(smth like that in the glove compartment)
-S-Line, plain gorgeous, aluminum trim/pedals, red stitching sline steering wheel.
    -Freight/PDI included.
    -heated front seats.
    -adjustable bi-Xenon front beam.

    the msrp is $47,900 CDN
the guy gave me a wonderful deal as it sounds like one,
    down to $43,490 CDN
(that's before tax, but including the freight/pdi)

Really need help from you experxts,
and those of you that are from B.C.,
    it'd be even better.

many thanks and gratitude in advance.

yeh see, ur reaction's similar to mine, and you emphasized the VERY.
i mean...new cars(b8) r comin' in... and they have clearance signs all over, yet doesn't sound like much of a clearance, but maybe I am wrong!!! and Im in Canada so the price's different from that of the States' for sure.

the car does seem to have that value though.
thanks for the response! i need more more more!

43K is very high, buy a B7 imported from the US from a private dealer and you can save up to 20K depending on year and options.

that is a little steep. I got my 07 s-line for $40k. I got them down from 47k after a week of grinding. I went to Richmond audi and capilano audi and made them fight over my business. Richmond finaly threw in the bluetooth for free while capilano was going to give the sat radio. But in the end I was happy w/ the purchase.

Is this car brand-new, OP? I think it depends on whether or not the car is "used" enough.....my feelings are, if the car still has 3 digits on the odometer, the dealer is gonna be firmer than if it has a thousand+...not sure why, this is just my feeling.

It is apparent that Audi has been doing a LOT of focusing on the direction of their vehicles from a design-to-customer-preference standpoint, and it wouldn't surprise me if they have people constantly browsing forums such as these for information.

From the opinions I've seen on AZ, at this point the B8 seems questionable at best in overall customer preference compared to the B7. While it may be fair to claim (in theory) "oh, there's a new model coming out so reduce the price on current ones," in the end they may be catching on to the fact not many enthusiasts or regular customers alike are very enthused about the B8. Higher demand = higher price/less negotiating room, is all I'm sayin'!

Definitely don't give up though, OP; the "new model coming soon" argument is definitely still valid, but I predict the B8 won't sell as well as the B7. This may show thru in the used/new B7 prices after the official releases.

    Best of luck!

Re: A noob who needs help picking up a gorgeous b7.

Considering the USD and CAN are nearly the same today (1:1.06) that is a high price even for a car in Canada where the import and sales taxes are higher.

I would think you can get it for $40k without much problem if you tell the guy the deal or shop around. Hopefully what you want is available.

If not, you can buy my 2007 with 7,900 miles and nearly fully loaded (no nav or S-line). :-)

Re: A noob who needs help picking up a gorgeous b7.

43 seems a bit high... i know prices have gone up some in general, but i bought my 3.2 s-line with everything but nav and cold weather and it was only 40k. of course that's not factoring in you getting screwed by the canadian conversion (wasn't there a huge outcry since the canadian dollar is almost equal to US dollar, yet you still pay higher prices for cars?)
that said, you can buy a b8 w/ the prestige package for 40ish and that's loaded up. so for a B7 i would think 40k should be the most you need to pay.

    good luck!

Clown, asking for advice on the price of a Canadian car on a forum that is 95% populated by Americans is not a great idea. You may want to post your Q on the Canada forum.

I'm in Vancouver and I bought my 06 A4 used out of the US five months ago. I save ~$8 after shipping, duty and taxes and found a black titanium with manual which would be nearly impossible to find locally.

I can't help you on the value of the car you're looking at because I never looked at 08s but I will say that with 09s arriving at dealers this week, I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy an 08 unless I get a great deal.

man I love you guys so much by responding!

I think i forgot to mention that this car is BRAND NEW.
this car actually only got 24km on it,
but it doesn't have that new car leather smell which is a bit weird,
and I'm guessing cuz it's been sitting there for a while.
The guy told me it's there since may.
I love how the car feels when i sit in it, and I haven't test drove it yet!
I tested one in richmond so i'll test drive it if i feel like im gonna bring that thang home.

I've looked at some minor details like the exterior of the alternator, it's oxidized quite a bit but i guess it's normal, and overall it seems to be that quite a few of people have driven it. Only 24km buddies.

    and to Louis:
The color I'm looking for is quite plain, just the quartz gray.
Man im in kinda a rush to get 1, but something just popped up, so I can wait a little bit longer. If you permit, would you mind to share your purchasing experience through PM?? or maybe we can go to blenz or something and chat up a bit!

Ur ride's awesome, and 05 was like the beginning of the b7 gen,
so that price probably was sweet somehow depending on what you have in it!

I'm not trying to be a dick here but you show me a fully loaded B8 prestige for $40ish and I'll give you $100 cash. Keep in mind that $47k+ is not $40ish. That is just flat wrong.

If you do your research on Audi's website you'll see that a B8 prestige with the 2.0 engine (not even the 3.2) with MOST options, not including adaptive cruise, is nearly $49k + TT&L for US delivery. That combined with the fact you wont get a deal on a B8 prestige for a while and you're wrong.

What exactly would you like me to share? If you're interested in buying out of the US, take the value of the car in the US and add 6% for duty, ~$1,500 for shipping and ~$500 for the various fees you'll have to pay. If the net value is much lower than what the local dealer is quoting and you're willing to wait about three weeks for delivery then you may want to look further into it. Also, how are you paying for it? If you're leasing or financing it will complicate things further.

If you do your research on Audi's website you'll see that a B8 prestige with the 2.0 engine (not even the 3.2) with MOST options, not including adaptive cruise, is nearly $49k + TT&L for US delivery. That combined with the fact you wont get a deal on a B8 prestige for a while and you're wrong.
i meant USD. on audi site 2.0T prestige starts at 40,000 even. i was considering the package alone as fairly loaded (advanced key, xenon, b&0, homelink, ipod) . add s-line for 2500 and that's about it except for nav and adaptive ride.

If the net value is much lower than what the local dealer is quoting and you're willing to wait about three weeks for delivery then you may want to look further into it. Also, how are you paying for it? If you're leasing or financing it will complicate things further.
    man thanks for the info.
I've just found out that a friend of mine's bro used to be an acquaintance of a manager in richmond, so i'm actually expecting to trim the price down till I'm satisfied. I'll post more updates when I get to the brink of sealing this deal. And yeh, I'm going to finance(not gonna pay all @ once w/ cash), so it'd be cumbersome!

Don't know if it would help.
I got my 08 Sline 2.0T 6Spd Brilliant Avant from Capilano this January.
And if I remember correctly, the price was around 42,000 before tax.
And I got pretty much all options except adaptive headlight and nav.
Good luck on the new purchase!
    Keep us updated.

Re: A noob who needs help picking up a gorgeous b7.

I recently drove up to Toronto for a wedding, and I was shocked at how few Audis I saw. I was also amazed at the general consensus that I must be ballin' because AUDIS ARE MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE IN CANADA THAN IN THE US... A few people hit the nail right on the head here... I say that you can still probably trim a little bit off the price with some negotiation, but I think that, for a brand new car, in BC, that's not too bad...
