AEM looking for test car

i would not let aem strap an intake onto my car.

great products they make.. but im still iffy about most aftermarket intakes.

they want fwd and manual...your car for a few days and you get an intake and they make millions

I hit them up, but didn't even get a response. I have quattro... but what is the difference between the AWD and FWD versions in the engine bay? I thought that only the A3's were transverse.

i actually just got my car back today.

The first time my car was there, they kept it for about a month. At that time, my car had halogen reflector headlights, and the housing is about an inch shorter than bi-xenon housing.

the second time i dropped off my car (which was this past tuesday), my car have bi-xenon housing, and they have to make a few adjustments to the intake so it would fit.

I talked to ken briefly this morning, he said that they project is still on track, and is awaiting management approval to have it mass produced.

He didn't tell me much, he just said that the intake did make power, and he does think the intake will make it into mass production phase. I actually don't have much more information than you guys.


on another note, i saw a prototype challenger at AEM being worked on. Since base model is already available at dealers, i'm guessing that would be the srt8 or another performance variant.

in any case, some time next week, i should find out whether the project will continue or not, and i will keep you guys updated.

How the Fvck does it take a month to make an intake It seems like it could be done in a couple days (a week at most)

do they pay you for a rental and your monthly payment because the way i see it is u just bought from them a 500 dollar intake plus gas and time saying your mo payment is around 500 dollars

they paid for the rental the entire time my car was there, and the rental cost them 750 (i got a copy of it when i returned the rental at enterprise.)

as far as i know, they had the car there, test fitted a few options, and found out what made the best power. ken actually told me the car lost power with several of the trials they ran, so the factory intake design is pretty decent, and it takes some good r&d to make more power.

I do agree that they will probably make quite a bit of money from the intake, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, is it? in any case, i'm just glad that some more options can be out on the market for us b7 drivers.

no no, i bought and installed bi-xenons after i got my car back (and before i dropped it off the second time).

so you get a rental, which i'm guessing is an economy car, they rip your car on a dyno for what i'm guessing is like 50 runs, and all u get is a free intake?
