    Service Bundle from dealership

I am picking up my new A3 tomorrow. the dealer recomended buying the service bundle for $700 which includes all maintainance upto 55,000 miles. The pic below details what they'll do

Is this worth the investment? Seems like I'd save a lot of money but it also seems like most of those things are pretty bogus.

    Any advice?

i thinks its just AKA Audi care, id get it i mean you basically don't have to pay a cent for ANYTHING its super nice. My AC compressor broke a few months after I got my car and they replaced the whole system and everything and I didn't pay a penny. Id say get it..

    Re: Service Bundle from dealership

although that a/c thing would be covered under warranty, the service plan isn't that bad.

I just glanced over it, but there are quite a few good things on there, namely fuel system clean, brake fluid flush, stuff like that... whether or not it's worth the money depends on you. I would never change my oil at 10,000 miles. Thats is plain bad for any car. I have a company do my oil analysis for me, and based on me driving nicely to and from work, the most mileage i can get out of my oil is maybe 6 or 7k. I change at 5k. Also, the first oil change i did at 3,299 miles because i did not trust the factory oil, and sure enough the test came out and the active additive left was less than 15%, also, break-in oil from the factory is usually a thinner viscosity.

All in all, if you are serious about taking care of the car, get oil changed 5k, which means if you do get the plan, you will have to pay for a few oil changes in between their schedule. Audi charges $150 I think per oil change. I pay under $50 for the filter, oil, crush gasket.. changing it takes 45 minutes or so...

So if you want to have the dealership do all the work for you, YES the plan is great, but if you want to change your own oil, or have a trustworthy shop do it for you, it will be much less. :D any way you decide to do it, I recommend oil and filter change every 5,000 miles and 3,000 for your first one. And always use synthetic with the VW 502 00 approval (i think i typed that right) and I also hear that changing the drain plug once in a while helps too.. but dont know about that for sure.

Hope it helps and good luck :D

Sean, my A/C compression actually seized on me last week and I'm 99% sure it'll fall under warranty (only at 30,500 mi).

How long was your car at the dealer for the repair? Did you get a loaner? I'm going in tomorrow to drop it off first thing in the morning...

BTW, I have the Audi Care plan. As Sub said, it's best to change your own oil at 5k.. esp. if you drive it hard. Don't go to Audi for oil changes in between your scheduled maintenance because they charge an arm and a leg.

I have enough mechanical to know my way around the car. I mean I've done ALL the work on my Corolla myself. I know what they have on the list is stuff I can figure out by looking and that was my thought exactly. All you really need is an oil change. Nothing listed on that document seems really special. I wont be biting into this.

I'm out to pick up the new A3.

That is some real sound advice. 10k did seem like a bit much. Royal Purple ok other than the VW 502? Thats what I have been running in the Rolla and the motor has 120k on the clock with majority of the milage with boost on stock internals and not one issue.

    Re: Service Bundle from dealership

I had the dealer throw in the Audi service package when I bought my 2007. I used to be a tech but figured if anything went wrong with the car there was no way they could say the person maintaning the car did something wrong and not warranty it. I still change my oil once between dealer services but don't tell them.

I think it's worth picking up the service bundle. I got the free service on my 06' but I change the oil every 5k at the dealer and pay $53.00 for in between schedued maintenance oil changes (and get a free loaner)

Where's the part about servicing the DSG (filter, oil) assuming you have DSG...?
