Another Airbag Light Thread (yes I searched...a lot)

Alright so I have a 2001 A4 (sold the car in my sig) and a long with many others my airbag light is on. Vag-com reads...
    1 Fault Found:
    00588 - Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N95)
    32-00 - Resistance too High

So I've always heard about the resistor mod so I figured I'd pick one up and it would fix it, not! So I bought a 4.7ohm 1/2 watt resistor, unplugged my battery, put the resistor in (pic below), plugged the battery back in, plugged in my vag-com and cleared the code, and two seconds later what do you know... air bag light back on, same code. Anyone have any ideas, or did I just make a stupid mistake somewhere? Anything helps, thanks guys.

this happened when my main airbag control unit just went out. failed. had to get it replaced at the stealership..

my advice? get it fixed by dealer. the airbag is an important part of the car and you dont want to take any risks or shortcuts with it, especially since there is no way to test it. be safe.

How much did that set you back? And it seems like if that were the problem it would be throwing a different code, and is that the little black box behind the dash on the passenger side? Anyone else with any other ideas??

I remember my mechanic telling me that you can just hardwire it to fix it.

Alright so today I took another look at things and found that the wires read 2.7ohms on a meter. So I don't know a whole lot about electronics but does that mean I was just off with the 4.7 and I need a 2.7ohm resistor? And how do I know if I need a 1/4 watt 1/2 watt etc.??
