SPA Manifold users, help a kid out....

Need to know what/where you got the following for your setup:

Downpipe bends (how many of what)

Oil lines (length and fittings)

Coolant lines (length and fittings)

Wg dump (is it tricky?)


Just ordered a 35R .63 (.82 later) Vband turbine and a SPA mani, I need to get the car ready for the standalone asap, replies MUCH appreciated!!! -Jake

This won't clear had to increase length to not fry CV


Do the DP in 2 sections for ease of install and if you need to pull it quick etc...

Open dump FTW, and it simplifies things.

It doesn't look real tricky, I just wouldn't trust myself doing it.

yup open dump...

Im not worried about fabbing up anything, I had a fabrication job for a while at one point, I just wish I had access to a TIG now... I just need to know what length hoses and what fittings, and what bends I need to fab the dp... Saw the downpipe thread, dont have time to wait for that, so Ill be doing it myself... Waiting for Rob to chime in...

What are you running for a turbo brace? I'm not sure I'd trust that big heavy turbo chillin out there w/o any other support than from the manifold.

Will the hood clear the SPA mani with the 35R on it? That turbo will sit up rather high. It will look massive.

Open dump will simplify everything. Not like mine which the wastegate dump pipe is cracked already.

no turbo brace, if the manifold cracks it will be going back under SPA's warranty

yup yup spa manifold, and gt3071r. I bolted a vband adapter onto it and the 45 is pretty much right aftr the vband. I can provide pics with proof if you need me to.

I used a 90* bend and a 45*

I took the 90 and cut it in half to use it in 2 places. I am running the 3071.

I too am also running 3 bungs, both 02 and another for the LC-1

For Lines, I just made my own from ATP's webiste. Here is the list of everything that is needed minus the turbo oil inlet restrictor.

mines in the shop getting all new dump tube, down pipe, a n lines and fittings, and a catch can. i will post pics when done. i ran out of time to ceramic caot the turbo hotside and spa mani. i plan on pulling the motor over the winter to clean things up a bit more, i will do it then.

even if you dont have a tig, its still much cheaper then buying a pre-fabbed one for 400$. just put some small tacks on with a mig, and find someone with a tig to finish it for you.

i use http://store.racing-solutions.org/ and have nothing to complain about.

Oil return uses the atp high temp hose, then where it attaches to the oil pan you need a fitting with a barb on it. Wish I had a pic of my setup. Make sense?

Well not yet since I dont have a setup that I can swap in at the moment, still waiting to test fit a T4 on the FR manifold I have. If I had money burning a hole in my pocket too I would have sold you my old setup, but we both know I dont.



Suprised you just didn't end up having 034 make you a real oil/coolant line kit, like the one I offer for the FR setup. Since the SPA is a top mount setup, you realy dont want to use banjo bolts for the coolant line at the turbo, you want to use a 45 deg AN fitting.

Shops dont really sponsor anymore and no one gives money away. But it isn't like I dont buy parts at wholesale prices anyway. I plan on switching to a new turbo setup but just waiting for the new T4 BW turbos to show up so FR can send me one to test fit.

Flow rates are lower given the smaller orifice. Not sure if that is the only reason but it is a good one.

Banjos are also really hard to line up with hard lines but does not really apply here as all lines are flexible.

Do people really have problems with how much coolant flows through their turbo? It never seemed to be a problem on my 30r.

What's wrong with using banjo bolts?

YOu cant use them on a top mounted turbo because the line on the banjo bolt needs to come up from below the turbo and the turbo/manifold and bolts get in the way. This is not a problem with a bottom or side mount turbo setups.


If the lines run straight down on the engine side of the turbo where do you expect them to go?

i ended up ordering some 304, a 6" radius 180* and 3' of straight pipe... should be plenty overkill
