what do you guys think of the price of this B7 2.0T?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I sold my car and am looking for a replacement. I'm still wavering between a B6 USP and a B7. My local dealership has this in stock, am curious to see if you guys think this is a fair price?

    2006 2.0T
    Quattro
    22k miles
    6 MT
    Black on Black
    xenon
    cold weather
    no-sport
    no-bose
    lease turn in
    CPO

They are listing it for $27,400. When I talk to my sales guy he said they could come down to $26,500. Is $25,000 a good price to start my negotiation with without low-balling?

Keep in mind I am in STL where there is almost no supply of manual transmission Audi.

    Thanks.

with the USP i'll be buying unseen since it is in Chicago, also it has a much higher mileage (55k). But I'm not ruling that out yet.

i wouldnt pay more than 25 for that. i think you can get a better deal than what they are asking. 25k is DEFINITELY not a low ball offer

Re: what do you guys think of the price of this B7 2.0T?

I purchased an almost identical car with mine having Bose for $24,900 about 5 months ago. I've found with Audi in particular there are HUGE differences in prices regionally, the south seems to be 3-4k cheaper on an almost identical car to the northeast. But in all honesty I don't know the STL area market at all......

That's quite a big difference in price for diff regions. I would say St. Louis is middle of the ground but who knows. *shrug*. There is not a lot of supply NOR demand for Audis around here I would say.

Re: what do you guys think of the price of this B7 2.0T?

I think it all depends on the region, because I had to negotiate to get almost the exact same car (only differences are tip trans, non-xenon, and was not a lease turn-in), for $27k (after fees, taxes, all that BS, it was about $30k). I live in CA just on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, and basically everything here is more expensive than almost anywhere else in the country.

Luckily, I got some perks thrown in that made up for the higher-than-normal price, but at times I wish I would've both looked around more thoroughly and played a little more hard-ball. In the end, I don't regret the decision tho, because I love my ride!

One thing I've also heard, if you can wait, is to buy around the end of the month. Car salesmen have sale quotas to meet, and if you wait till the end of this quota period, you can sometimes get them to come down in price simply so they meet this req. Hope that helps.

Best of luck to you aspw.

You looking at Parktown (got my USP and S4 there)? They are typically on the high side. Anything over at Bommarito in Ellisville? They wheel and deal alot more...ask for Theresa (she used to work at Ptown; that is where I got my B7 and Ptown couldn't touch it).

Re: what do you guys think of the price of this B7 2.0T?

Thanks B7A4Sport, SF is really an expensive place. A buddy of mine bought an *almost the same* B6 there the same time I did here in the midwest, and he paid couple grand more.

autoverrückt thanks for the info. yes I am looking at parktown, because i live in the city and they are the closest to me, plus I got there for service. I'll give Theresa a call. Does she know you by name?

I see on Bommarito's website they have a

and their listing price is $27,995! Maybe I'll get them both to fight over the price and see which one comes in lower.

Look up the KBB prices for those cars, they are priced way above their value. IMO they are worth around $23-24k.

This is probably true, but I don't think KBB accounts for novelty value type stuff. Despite the fact a manual trans should technically be less than auto, I think fewer manual A4's are put in production than autos, and thus dealerships have caught on to the fact a higher demand for a lesser supply = higher price. Just my two pennies.

Too much....I negotiated with a dealer on an '06 Quattro Manual S-Line 25k miles (loaded less Nav) and they were at $25.5k CPO'd.

I opted for my '07 Quattro Manual Titanium S-Line 19k miles(loaded with Nav) and negotiated to $28.4k instead. Something for you to compare against.

    Good Luck,

Yea, doesnt surprise me in the least that ur buddy paid a couple thousand more for an identical ride.

However, even though he did, I bet he gets paid a couple thousand more (at least) too! We do get some nice wages out here to compensate, with the right job that is.

so based on responses here it sounds like a reasonable price is around 22-24k.

how do I counter when the dealer prints out a KBB page that shows a suggested dealer price of $27k? That is basically what he did and I was left speechless so I left.

Tell them no. and walk out. go online and search cars.com/autotrader.com/carsoup/vehix and see what you can find. Then take in a print out of a similar car and show them the price. If they don't budge then go somewhere else.

Lol, if he printed the KBB page and stuck it in your face, you should print THIS THREAD and stick it back in his.

BTW, that's a desperation move on his part, don't stand for it cuz it's just terrible practice from a salesman. You are better off walking away and finding a better deal; if you do, I guarantee he will regret it.

Re: what do you guys think of the price of this B7 2.0T?

That price is too high, IMHO. Some dealers have "too much into" the used vehicles on their lots and hold out until it's too late. FYI: There are dealers in Chicago with CPO B7 Quattros going for $22-24,000 right now and they're anxious to deal according to an acquaintance who just picked up a 2007. Is the B6 USB you're looking at in Chicago at a dealership? If it's in the immediate metro-suburban area I could look at it for you and snap some pics; AZ members should help AZ members just like they do on BMW, Mercedes and Porsche forums.

Simply tell him "I've never seen KBB purchase a car" and make them a reasonable offer, if he doesn't take it then go elsewhere. In the current car market and economic market they would be stupid to pass on a reasonable offer.

Spoke to two dealers in town and the best I got is still in the mid and high $26s.

Bmeister, do you have a dealer's name I can call? I don't mind driving to Chitown but am just leary buying sight unseen. I'm mainly looking for 2006 B7 A4 Quattro 6speed cold weather package. 6 speed is hard to find, and that is why the dealers here are not willing to drop the price. I will buy you drinks if you can check out a car or two for me. :)

The 2004 USP is in naperville, private seller. I think I'm starting to rule that one out because it already has 55k.

B7A4Sport, hhahaha, I'm not divulging where I got my negotiation training from. Thank god for this forum.

pakratt99, i think KBB prices are off the mark. I have no problems walking out and getting an el cheapo rental car for a couple of weeks.

Re: what do you guys think of the price of this B7 2.0T?

All 2.0t S-Line manuals around here are at least $26k too. One dealer is even asking as much as $32k for a 2006 and $33k for a 2007. I just saw a used 2008 3.2 S-Line for $35.5k today too. I paid almost $31k for a 2008 with 2700 miles. I thought it was a good deal considering it cost almost $39k just 6 months and 2700 miles ago. I wouldn't hesitate to spend $26k on a 2006 if it is EXACTLY what you want, even though alot of people think that is too much, but like B7A4Sport said, manuals (let alone an S-line) are pretty hard to come by, and dealers are charging a premium for them. I think thats why that one dealer i mentioned it asking so much.

i appreciate your help cstarky15. i think i really like the 2nd link. pretty good price too if it all checks out. plus if it is an 2007 then i won't need CPO warranty since it is still so new.

Yeah, I really like the blue color. And the low miles are really nice too. you get half the miles for 2-4k cheaper. and a year newer. I would give them a call and see what they say. BTW carfax is clean on it

Yup, thats the one. I guess I'm the only one though that thinks the gray with titanium is a little too bland. I want silver wheels instead

I didn't look to see if they were all manuals, but Laurel Audi in Westmont (west suburbs, I-294 & I-88 area) regularly has manual trans A4s. Don't overlook the 2005.5 in your search; a B7 is a B7 and they're often thousands of dollars less than a 2006 all else being equal. I'll take a look at the one at Laurel Audi tomorrow as it's just minutes from my office and let you know how it looks.

how do I counter when the dealer prints out a KBB page that shows a suggested dealer price of $27k? That is basically what he did and I was left speechless so I left.
you should have laughed at him. dealerships only want to talk about KBB when it benefits them! if KBB shows the car lower than what they are asking they will say they dont use KBB.. blah blah blah.. they use a black book.

you should have told him that a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. and right now, whatever your offer was, is what the car is really worth. he expects you to pay $27k for a car that is about to be outdated once all the b8's are released.. nooo wayy in hell.

i tell everyone this. dont even deal with a sales person. ask to speak to the sales manager and say "look, i have done my research, i know what these cars are worth. i know your not selling many with this economy, and i also know the b8's are about to come out and make this car outdated. i know what this cars wholesale value is to the dealership. lets not waste any time ,this is my offer and ill drive it home today, if not i will wait and find something else from a private party."
