    Text only Nav?

So, I have these buttons and a little dial below my shifter.

I saw "NAV" and was all excited. I hit it, this little disclaimer came up on my screen, and to my delight I was able to enter in POI, city, state, and street information.

Now... I enter in a large street in Buffalo NY, and quickly realize that the disc doesn't have it...?

Does it really suck as bad as I think it does? Or do I just have a crap disc? And does anyone have an upgrade?

Last question : Can an RNS-E use the GPS receiver I have now?

    Sorry I'm such a friggin' n00b

That's a BNS you have. You might have a really old map CD (yes it uses CDs not DVDs).

To fit an RNS-E you have to take the BNS out and throw it in the bin (or sell it on eBay). The only thing the RNS-E can use is the GPS antenna (the receiver is built-in to the BNS box which is mounted in the trunk). And the buttons by the shifter are no use with the RNS-E either.

I'm sure the dealer would have them for a super high price. Maybe find a junkyard with a wrecked S4... or ebay or something like that?

http://www.navteq.com/index.html. I have the exact same nav unit in my car. The Last updated disc they made was in 2005. I got mine on sale a few months ago for $120, from the original price of $200.
