WORST/BEST DEALERS in the WORLD...AUDI GUIDE

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So since recently I've had some good but (mostly) bad experiences with dealers, I wanted to start a little thread listing best/worst dealers by area..
Figure it might help other members.. saving some their time & money.

    BAD
    01. Van Nuys, CA - Keyes Audi
Tiny service department and parts counter. You will have better luck finding Waldo than getting a loaner. Service staff is unaware of anything Audi. Don't bother calling service department to check the repair status, receptionist will always say that everyone in service is "tied up" . When you pick up your car odds are some things you complained before never made it to the original repair order.

    02. Beverly Hills, CA - Beverly Hills Porsche & Audi
Yes, you've just spent over 80K on your Cayenne, or that sexy S8 .. But if you take your ride to this shop, expect pimping a PT Cruiser loaner! Yes thats right - No Audi or Porsche loaners, instead you get a nice lil Enterprise rental. Service is beyond sub standard - especially for someone with the ( Beverly Hills ) in its title. Shop size is below average.. Service guys will eventually blame everything that is wrong with your car on you in order to avoid a lemon law, or warranty repairs.

    GOOD

    01. Pasadena, CA - RUSNAK PORSCHE / AUDI
Big service department, semi-friendly staff that will actually tell you whats wrong with your car - what a concept! , loaners

    02. Los Angeles, CA - AUDI of Downtown LA
    Same as above ^^^^

I can't really say anything about SM Audi just because I've never been there.

Keyes Audi has one decent sales person - Greg, other than that .. not so much.. I totally agree with your comment.

You should totally write feedback - god knows i need a close by dealer that is somewhat competent.

Hell yes. Rector Audi/Porsche hands down. My audi and my mom's porsche go there for everything. Superior service and pretty fun loaner cars. Our service advisor Roger is top-notch. Remembers us by name too.

    As for bad:
    Niello Automotive Group in Sacramento:
Niello Audi - took my A4 in for a pcv valve. told them it was a pcv. they said it wasn't. they took 5 days to diagnose it and another week to get the part. also it took me forever to get ahold of my own service advisor.
-on a separate occasion, went in to look at possibly upgrading to an S5. 3 salesmen sitting around, not one of them acknowledges me for a good 5 minutes. left pissed off.
-when i sent my car to Niello's own body shop, it took fuckin 3 and a half weeks to do an s-line bumper paint and install. you have got to be kidding me. almost a month without my car. excuse after excuse every couple of days.
Niello BMW - with my e90, when it wouldn't start, I couldn't even get to a service advisor. kept calling back and telling the operator to stop sending me to voicemails and get me to an advisor. after 7 or 8 frustrating calls and a million connections, i called my dealer back home to get the problem fixed.
    STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING NIELLO.

Thanks for starting this thread! It's a good idea. Especially for those that have had issues and at a dealership and want to learn of other's experiences or for those that are new to Audi.

However, I think it would have been perfect in the regional sub-forums because if this thread gets to be big, for example... I could care less about having to sift through information about audi dealerships outside of the so cal region. [2cents]

Also, aren't some of the dealerships sponsors of the board? I remember I once asked a question about which dealerships are mod friendly and that got me in a little bit of trouble. Don't know about this thread, but I still love the idea of it.

P.P.S - in regards to "dealers are sponsors" - truth is truth, and last time i checked there was such a thing as freedom of speech and i can refer to many legal cases where a forum member(s) won in court ..

just because a dealer pays $150+ for a banner ad (as a promotion), it doesn't mean that the above price automatically includes hand over your mouth.

It is a great idea! I wasn't trying to knock you for starting it at all. I simply see more potential for it's usability in the sub-forums for regions because people would be able to find the info for thier local dealers faster. that's all.

But the thread itself is very useful!

Re: WORS /BEST DEALERS in the WORRRRLLLLLDD..AUDI GUIDE

Although I've heard mixed reviews from people, overall I'm very pleased with my experience at Sonnen Audi/VW San Rafael, just north of San Fran. My service tech is a great guy, and their salesmen are actually pretty decent. Overall, the service dept. in general is my favorite part; not totally overcrowded, good loaners, and they get shit done when they say they will. Furthermore, my service tech told me he'd not only ignore mods I do as far as negging the warranty, he'd even direct me to places I could get stuff done.

The only complaint I have is that my financier was/still probably is the most pure example of a douchebag I've come across in a long time. Never have I seen someone try to swindle a decent customer more; he tried to F*&%ING sell me the Platinum Warranty package knowing full well my car was CPO (Plat. warr. = CPO warr). I read the details on the Plat. warr., and said "This sounds just like what CPO gives me," and he says "OH YEA, YOU'RE CAR IS CPO, WHAT AM I THINKING?" Yea, nice try ASS.

Then, he tried to tell me my 2006 A4 DIDN'T come with Audi Care included, and that the salesman who told me otherwise "doesn't know English very well and didn't know what he was saying." A manager who tries to dump the responsibility on his underlings, what a stand-up guy...OYE, I don't want to rant anymore, but it was really frustrating!

Honestly though, if it weren't for the fact this dealership is basically in my backyard, I would have dealt entirely with Rector as I've only ever heard rave reviews.

Great thread, perhaps we can turn this into a stickie!

You would be surprised at how other boards put money first. There is another board that I am a member of, not AudiZine and not AcuraZine, another one that gets very anal about posting stuff up when it has a slight chance at taking away from the boards sponsors.

To me, this board has the enthusiasts concerns at heart first, then the sponsors. At least that's my impression of it. There are other boards that are in it for the money where their members come second. It's unfortunate, but true.

EDIT: Grammar owned me, had to make fixes.

Yup, it sucks that there are boards out there that do that. Especially when you find something out there that can help other's on the board, but can't mention it because it's a competitive product for the sponsor of the board. Frankly goes against the focus of what the board should be about. I've been in that situation on a different board and it pissed me off. Now I don't go there as often and just lurk for information. No point in contributing to their cause if they're not focused on the members cause.

Ok, back on topic. I've only got 2K on my car so far. By the end of the year I'll probably be ready for my first service. I've got the audi care plan or whatever it's called. I'm interested to see what you guys have to say about Rusnak Audi in pasadena or Penske Audi in Covina. One person already commented about Rusnak, but I can't wait to hear more about other dealerships. Anyone have experience with the audi dealership in thousand oaks? Dare I ask if there are any in so cal that are mod friendly or offer performance mods installable by the dealer? I'm assuming Penske Audi in Covina are since they sell and install aftermarket parts at their dealership.

Miramar Audi in San Diego sucks! Their service advisors are arrogant know-nothing bastards.
For loaners, they sent me to an Enterprise where I got a POS base model Mitsubishi Lancer.

    I will second that.

Their service dept. started out great, and just deteriorated over time.

When I first took my car there I was always guaranteed an Audi loaner. by the end you had to get there at the asscrack of dawn to get an Audi, else you would get a POS Suzuki rental.

The final straw was when I took the A4 there to replace the left front window lifter right after the car was out of warranty (right front was replaced under warranty)...I got a phone call during the day, the advisor said they found a leaking coolant pipe and quoted me 200 or something to fix it. I knew it was overpriced, but I was super busy and didn't want to have to deal with it later so I OK'd the fix..

While waiting to get my car back at the dealer (which took over half an hour, and I was the only customer around), I looked at the invoice sheet and noticed that the pipe wasn't cracked after all! They charged me $200 to replace a BLEEDER SCREW. To make things worse, a week or so later I noticed that the front door was not put together correctly...

In the meantime I waited anxiously to get the usual follow-up call regarding my customer service experience, but guess what, I never received the call!

Needless to say, I have not been back since. I take my car to La Jolla Autotech, whom I can't say enough good things about.

If they cannot prove that you did something wrong, you have a case against them. Talk to a lawyer, see what they say.

    GOOD:
West Covina Audi service department is excellent. Chris and Jason are enthusiasts and are very dedicated. On the other hand, I had a "not so nice" experience with an individual in sales. I was checking out an S4 Avant (CPO) on the showroom floor, and the gentleman gave me a "you cant afford this car" look/attitude. He was very "short" in conversation, kind of like I was wasting his time. Little did he know I had an S4 sedan in their service dept. Once again, the Service Dept. is top notch!

This is from MY experience, and not "hear say". I'm just trying to point out how different dealers (of the same manufacturer) seem to handle an issue differently. Just my .02. Thanks for reading.

Old thread, but oh well.............I have a change in attitude towards Walters Audi (Riverside, Ca.). I took my car (2005 B6 S4) in this morning for a CEL (turned out to be coilpacks), was OFFERED a nice B8 loaner, and the car is already done! 8 brand new coilpacks under recall of course, but still. They have remodeled/expanded their showroom, and it really nice. Jesus is a great guy to work with.

Re: WORST/BEST DEALERS in the WORLD...AUDI GUIDE

    ^^^

I wish my experience for coilpacks recall went as smoothly as your experience at Penske Audi- West Covina.

I brought my car in to Penske Audi, West Covina for new coilpacks yesterday (Audi recall) and they sent me packing, instead fixing the spare wheel arch recall or whatever it is. I said my car was misfiring but they told me they couldn't reproduce this and couldn't the ECU didn't store a code. I asked if they checked if the part #'s were old on the coilpacks and they said without a CEL on, they had no reason to check. I then asked about carbon buildup and they responded with "Audi doesnt have a fix for that at this time". I am really saddened by this as this is my first Audi, and AOA is really making me question my future purchase of an Audi.

My service rep was Chris Martin, who called me around closing time last night to say my car would be done in the morning the next day. Well I waited half a day for his call and nothing. Proceeded to call around noon, got his voicemail. Then called twice at 3 pm to hear he called in sick and Lynda took over his work. I asked why Lynda didn't call me and the receptionist just put me over to her line, which went to voicemail as well. Called again, pissed off now, and the receptionist asks for my full name and says my car is ready. SERIOUSLY WTF?!

So I hang up and proceed to pick up my car after I get off work. Get to Penske Audi around 5:30pm ( they close at 6:00pm). I tell the receptionist I'm here to pick up my car and as for lynda, she says she went home early because she was sick. Asked to talk to the manager, his name is Jim. He apologizes for the RUDE service, or lack of service as a whole. I tell him I didn't buy a Audi, let alone a RS4 to be treated like this, and he says he understands. I am not convinced.

Bought my car at Downtown LA Audi, but didn't have time to take off work and drive it all the way there. Well next time I will go there for sure.

    Good:

Audi of Stratham NH: Audi/Porsche/STāSIS dealer. Mod friendly, great friendly staff, mechanics who know what the hell they are doing, and a reasonably open garage (if you ask they'll usually let you in to take photos of the work in progress).

    Mediocre:

Morong Falmouth Maine: Audi/Porsche/VW/Mazda dealer. Will at the Audi service desk is a nice guy, but has little pull when it comes to issues with service/warranty work. Dealer is not mod friendly and assumes any and all problems with car are due to mods. Would not retighten bolts on my STaSIS rear arb when one came loose. Fought them/AoA for 6 months over warranty issue with control arm shimmy. Also very difficult to get a loaner unless you schedule one in advance.

    Bad:

Thompson Waterville Maine: VW/Audi/Mazda dealer. Friendly helpful staff always had a loaner available, however... Severely under equipped to work on Audis. Highest dollar car they've sold is probably an A6 or S5. Doesn't have a road force balancer. Up until sometime last fall could not even mount tires on wheels larger than 20 inches. Garage bays are tiny, cramped, and dirty. No real customer lounge.

I usually do things myself, and the parts guy at the Pallisades Audi in NY (Nyack) knows his sh*t. Never dealt with the actual techs, though.

Audi Lauzon - Laval, Qc, Canada

One of the best dealerships I ever went to, nice showroom, everyone is extremely friendly, even if you just buy floormats the guy will actually take the time to show you each of them even if you didn't ask. I bought wipers and the parts guy actually changed them for me and I didn't even ask. Lots of cookies and drinks available for free too :P. I only had good experiences there so far. (I only go to get parts though)
