    hi all,

the paint on my front door handles (interior, where the window controls/key locks are located) is starting to peel off and i am wondering if there's any way that i can fix it, or easily paint it by myself?

or, is there any aftermkt products that i can replace the handle with?

Thanks very much for all advice!

Re: interior door handle paint peeling off

I had the same problem when I bought my A6. I had a detailing specialist fix up the trim, but unfortunately it's close to back to how it looked when I first picked up the vehicle...

Re: interior door handle paint peeling off

sorry no pics, but it was a tedious job to say the least..

you have to sand ALL of the beige or black (probably beige) rubberized stuff off or the paint wont stick.

sand all the way down to the white plastic, then move up in sandpaper grits to get it smooth (from 80, i think, to about 400 grit)

prime with any rattle can filler primer, i used duplicooler from autozone

then paint with a satin/flat finish color of your choice, unless you want it to look like a dress shoe, I use plasti-kote from wal-mart.

    then clear for extra protection.

I changed mine from beige to black, came out nice and held up well

Re: interior door handle paint peeling off

    take the door panel off,

on the back there are two or three screws that hold the handle on, take them out and unclip it from the door card

pop the window switches out using a screwdriver

I wrote long, detailed instructions on how to do this, but lost internet connection right before I posted and lost what I wrote, and I dont feel like writing it again as it has been a very long day for me. but if you have specific questions I will answer them.
